Griffins vs Squires?

which one? I'm 5'11 140. and ski mostly park in the Midwest. havent really beat up a pair of bindings too bad and I've been rocking some atomic bindings for a while. +k to whoever helps. thanks guys.

Get griffons dude. You'll break squire no doubt. Its literally $30 extra for like a $100 durability value if that makes sense

Between those two choose Griffons. You are too big and will most likely trash squires in the park.

Dude get pivots. I had the same ones for 4 seasons on park skis and i never broke them.

The squires: Made of jello and pencil lead

The griffons: Made of those cheap toy guns you bought as a kid.

Pivots: Made of F-15 grade titanium held together by airplane glue.

FKS 140 youll beat it to how loyal and great they are if not those then look pivots. But between youre actuall question griffins for sure squires suck more dick than anything they are for 100 pound squids.

Griffons. If u get squires youll spend the difference replacing your brakes.

Griffons will work perfectly for you. To the people saying the Pivots do not understand that there are three levels of pivots/fks and until you get the fks180 or pivot 18 its all the same plastic that the griffons are made from for the toe piece. yes you have the turntable heel and i love it but not all FKS are bomb proof. The Jester is the only marker that introduces metal as well. basically it comes down to this:

lightweight skier that might go in the park on occasion or an average female skier: squire, axial3, aaattack 11

an everyday park skier but do not need a din of 18 because you do not weigh enough or ski well enough: griffon, fks 120/140, aaattack 11/13, STH, warden

ski all mountain, never want to lose your ski in the deep, hit 100ft jumps: jester, fks180, aaattack 16

im probably missing a few bindings out there but this gives you a general sense as to what each binding is meant for.

its still molded plastic. i have them as well. They can take a beating for sure but they are not stronger than a griffon. they are pretty much the same.

I just picked up the aaattack 13 to try them this year as well. very light bindings with a low stack height. Be interested to see how it stacks up against the griffon and the fks120

Definitely Griffons, if you're willing to invest a bit more, go with a Pivot 14. If not, you could try an Attack 13, a bit cheaper than a Griffon and just as good of a binding.

My recommendations:
Rossi/Look FKS/Pivot 140
Marker Griffon
Salomon STH 13


What do you set your dins to? And I strongly suggest you avoid the squires especially if your din range sits nicely in the middle of the din range (Griffons go from 4-13).

If you ski a lot of park get the griffons. I personally prefer Pivots/FKS but replacing the brakes is super $$$.

griffons, squires are for little kids and women.

i've owned multiple pairs of pivots/FKS/griffons and don't notice much of a difference in regards to durability.

Griffons.

I have a question to go along with this thread. I'm 6'1 170 and just bought pivot 12's. I'm just worried because it seems like most people my size are riding 13 or 14 DIN's at least. I ski pretty aggressively but I don't crank my DIN's... Will the pivot 12's be ok?

I've destroyed breaks from Marker and Salomon over and over and over again until my local shop got tired of me and hooked me up with some Look pivot 140s.. Those things are freakin durable! If they do break within a year of having them, they are fully warrantied (I should know). If you're in the midwest, you shouldn't need the 18's unless your taking some pretty big impacts and hitting big jumps.. The toe piece may not be more durable then the Griffins, but I do think they release better and the big thing for me is not breaking breaks anymore (besides bending them back into place every once in a while)

Also, this is personal opinion, but I like the way the pivots ski way more than Griffins

No worries man. The way most brakes attach to the heel piece will let them break. The FKS/Pivot have it super integrated and its all metal around the turntable so it will be more durable. You shouldnt be falling that much when landing switch! jk.

As you can see, i have a mix of bindings i use so I can see how they all hold up and ski. The griffon is nice because of the wide afd, it makes wide skis feel more narrow when carving. the fks/pivot is light. Im hoping i found the mix of those two with the aaattack 13.

I put the fks on my park ski and my pow ski to keep them light. using the griffon and the aaattack for everyday all mountain use.

I would say go for griffons, however I have a pair of skis with squires and one with griffons, and the griffons broke but the squires haven't. If you buy whatever you go for from a local shop, marker has a great warranty program and will probably just replace stuff you break. I would go for squires if they have a high enough din for you.

I have a pair of pivots, sth 13s. And attack 13s. Only ridden the pivots so I'll see how they compare
