Banzai is the battle cry. Bonsai just literally translates to tray plant. So, I propose you name it trey.

yeah-- I said it is a Japanese battle cry. I didn't say it translated to battle cry.

No, you said bonzai was the battle cry. Little differences in Japanese make a massive difference in what you're trying to say, because they have way fewer sounds than we do.

A Japanese person might run into battle and yell 'banzai!'

It would still be a witty thing to name the tree--sort of a play on words, but yes, I didn't notice your spelling difference I your post.
