Silverton v. Wolf Creek

Im headed to South/Southwest Colorado with a few friends over winter break and we were thinking of heading to one of these. Anyone have any opinions they can weigh in with?

Silverton has un-guided skiing through mid January. Take advantage of it.

Silverton is a rad mountain for sure, the snow wasn't great when I went there so I never experienced its true epicness.

If doing the unguided days, I would make sure you have some backcountry experience, I could see potential for shit to go down.

That being said, if you go on the guided days I'd recommend going with hommies near your level/ fitness. I was a little apprehensive to go in the highest level crew (mostly because of limited avy training and I live near sea level most of the year) but I ended up doing a lot of waiting for mediocre skiers, I didn't mind because I went to with my old man and had a great time. But if you're paying top dollar to shred do it right.
