Surgical gloves

Anyone wear surgical gloves as a base layer? I do it in lacrosse to keep in body heat, it works wonders. I don't know if it would be effective at all in the winter though. Thoughts?

thats the point. it locks the mosture in the latex layer of the glove, and the outer normal glove insulates while it stays dry.

ive done this numerous times playing football in the freezing cold and it works wonders.


idk if this would work for skiing. i dont use my hands nearly as much as i do catching a football so i dont think they will get as warm skiing

This would technically work if you have some shitty gloves and want a cheap fix. I would suggest just getting a good pair of gloves, though..

I wear em under a pair of thin gloves while fishing this time of year. More for waterproofness though

I sail year round and my hands get really mess up with the salt water, so i wear them under my gloves but also work really well to keep in heat when winter sailing

What do you sail? I sail 420's and lasers. For winter and early spring, I use these insulated blue lobster gloves and they"re super warm and waterproof, but don"t have the best dexterity. I've always wanted to ski with them but always forgot them at home.

your hands would sweat, and then your hands would get cold eventually. theres a reason you see people going into the backcountry wearing goretex rather than rubber rain jackets.

Give this man a cookie for he is correct, you need things that will wick and breath. I have Kincos and coated them in snow seal, never have I had wet hands in the alps or Scotland with them.

I use them when I'm working in the alps course crewing (gates, fences and drilling as the last thing you want stood on the side of a race piste for 8 hours is cold wet hands).

Drop 12 bucks for a pair of kinco gloves and another few bucks for some sno seal and you will never need another pair of gloves.

Same, have a pair of those too the nice fur stuff inside is so warm and yeah i know what you mean they are tough when rigging and fine tuning for sure. I sail in hs on the east coast so its cold in most of our season.

Where on the east coast? I sail out of Duxbury High School in Massachusetts.
