So my family is planning a trip up to winter park in March. I don't know anything at all about this place but I've always been excited to go to keystone... I just need some advice about maybe some comparisons and your personal thoughts! Thanks
Keystone has a way doper park (though wp's been trying to step their game up) but WP (specifically MJ side) is all about the tree skiing in my opinion!
UltimateSkiBro22What's the big differences in the two parks?
They both have the same amount of terrain open in there park territory. WP has 5 flip-able jump the last one you can double. Key has lifts really just for there parks. Thats what I know, hope I helped.
Winter Park is fresh! Only go on the winter park side for park though (never actually skied it, but from looking at it looks nice. not as good as keystone though, of course). Go to Mary Jane and hit up some high quality tree skiing, moguls, and nice side hits one runs people have carved out.
Their park is pretty good. Sure, it isn't A51 but they have a fair amount of rails in their main park (the rail yard) and another slightly smaller park below with some fun rails (rerailer). Then there are a few other parks around the mountain, mainly smaller boxes and stuff though.
Heads up, I believe you need to get a park pass to hit their biggest jumps which are at the bottom of their main park.
wp park is so spread out its kinda rediculous. its all off the same lift but its kinda lame. if you wanna hit the big jumps (dark territory) you have to take a safty class. Origonally i though this was dumb, but after watching this idiot kid from missouri get a concussion at copper, i completely agree with it
Winter Park is the tits! I call it my home mountain and usually go here over copper. The park is not what you'll find at key but it's still tight. Dark Territory is awesome. You have to get a pass for it but it's free and there is no safety class. You just have to watch a 8 minute video and get somebody's mom to sign the waiver if your'e under 18. Everyone is nice, last season I had numerous snowball fights with the DT park crew while dropping in for the jumps. It's a good place
The park is awesome. You should stay in it so we can keep our miracle march freshies to ourselves.
For real though, you're traveling to the rocky mountains. The terrain park doesn't have a mountain on it. The mountain has a terrain park on it. Enjoy the whole mountain. There's a lot more to skiing, especially in CO, than skiing park.
Grew up going to WP every year and its a dope set up. there park is always solid but Id recommend skiing mary jane majority of the time. Runs like Outhouse are famous for there steep/long mogeled runs with no easy exists. You'll have a blast!
