For your edit I think some shots look a bit flat and could use some color correction, and yea for the type of shots you're taking a tripod would be useful. Good luck with your future videos.

Thanks, i appreciate it. Definitely a lot more experimenting with colours correction on imovie. I did a bit, but it was hard to not make it dramatically different without washing things out or over saturating.

I've been on NS for 13 years, although I agree that people in media and arts are more sensible and kinder... to an extent.

not bad at all for an iPhone edit!

It was a fine edit for an iphone, nothing really bad about it, it was just pretty boring. The titles right away gave me a really amateur vibe, try to get a little more creative with them instead of just slapping them on to the beginning. The blur effect just seemed awkward, and they were too long for how short the video was as a whole. Also, it was 100% wide, relatively long shots, end to end. There was no apparent effort to incorporate any pacing with the cuts, they just seemed strung together. The easiest way to remedy this is to shoot closeups/b-roll of anything and everything, and mix them in with the rest of your footage. A word of caution for this though, haphazard shots of tree branches and other bike edit cliches should be avoided, as every shot needs to contribute to the video, not simply fill up space. This can also apply to how you shoot the biking itself, incorporating camera movement or unique angles to make the edit flow better and be more interesting. A bit of color correction never hurt anybody either, but on't focus on that as much until you're confident with your filming skills, as the latter is far more important.

You did pretty well with what you had, there is room for improvement though. Just watch as much content as you can and go out and shoot as much as you can, and you'll pick up better techniques as you go along.

I agree with everything above...

I would definitly get some b roll. it seems as most people either have way too much b roll and not enough action, or the opposite. finding that balance is the difference between a good film maker and the average.

Also, props on the iphone 4s, reminding people that you can get good shit with your cellphone, and you dont need super expensive equipment. That being said, i do think that some tighter shots would help. Yes i know the iphone has terrible zoom, but the same look can get borring quick.

I also think that trimming the beginning and end of clips would make it way better (the first biking shot could be trimmed in the beginning, and the shot where you pan up in the air after he hits his line could be shortened)

Also, the titles, like someone else said, incorporating them in a different way other than one after another in the beginning makes it more interesting, it seemed like you just wanted to get it out of the way.
