Base layers?

looking for some help finding a good base layer. i am looking for pants mainly, since it is hard to fit a brace and sweatpants under my snowpants.


the thing is, i have no idea what i'm looking for in a base layer. i want it to keep me warm, and not be 9000 dollars if possible

any recommendations?

Patagonia makes awesome baselayers. Try Ibex for super high quality but super pricey stuff. Worth it but you have to be willing to spend the money.

Its a personal thing and its a lot of trial and error.

Different areas will need different considerations, such as down vs synthetics as down does not like high moisture content.

Having tested a ton last season honestly just buy ice breaker. It's by far the best and at about $100 it's not crazy crazy pricey. Worth every penny

north face, smart wool, or patagucci. But honestly I just wear fleeces from target and they work fine and they're cheap

Do either of you know how it compares to Nike baselayers? Is it warmer? I've always rocked Nike but if there's a better alternative.....

I just got the Oakley base layer, definitely feel like solid material, iv used Smart-wool in the past and love it.

yeah for suure man!
i just wear some boxer briefs under them and usually basketball shorts over them, but not for extra warmth, just cause i find it more comfy to sag in.

Jah, I usually just wear them under a shell pant and I'm warm even on the coldest days in the Wasatch. I use the base 1.0s for reference

I like the 3/4's because they sit just below the knee and don't bunch up at the top of my boots. Saga's are nice for a cheap solution.
