I think you're the greatest, the pinnacle of humanity, the greatest the planet will see for a long long time, no coincidence skynyrd came from the south but you're wrong on almost each and erry issue, climate change you gotta get on board - i know Russia will never play fair and China is the worst. still yall gotta pick up your act and use that brain or yours. Statistically republicans are slower at accepting the realm of science (God is a mathematician in my book), more likely to believe in conspiracies, and more likely to be less educated and lacking health insurance. Oil is holding up your economy... Come toward the light. Guns are great if they don't kill, abortions are necessary at times, gays should have rights, but you gentlemen prefer to live like it's 1860. Imitate ben Franklin and wise men not drunkard vagrants like half of you.
Every civilization has fallen, we won't last forever either, couple hundred years...if you're fortunate to be born smart and understand, breed.
sampsihoyosThe confederate flag debate...face palm shaking my head. No one cares that yer granpappy lost the war on ethics
Uhhh OK? Im against the Confederate flag as well. Nowhere on this website have I ever even hinted that I support the redneck battle cry "hate not heritage"
Well the people in government that are under the Republican Party are run by corporations and I ask myself quite a bit if they actually believe what they're saying. I don't think they do I think they want the money.
That being said I know this one person who's against colleges and thinks we should question and challenge professors more because they are too liberal. And we belife things like humans destroyed the o zone layer.
Research has found that conservatives have a larger region in their brain for prcossing fear. Liberal people have a larger area for logic and reasoning.
these threads are so dumb, you can say the same thing about either party. no matter what, a moderate democrat or moderate republican is going to be the next president, everyone just relax. no, bernie sanders won't get the nomination, and no, donald trump won't get the nomination.

Hillary much? It's the same on both sides save Bernie Sanders. I think it's safe to say we have no idea what Hillary's true feelings are just as much as most of the Republicans. She's the epitome of corporate money in politics.

So all conservatives live in the south now and are waiving confederate flags around??? I am a conservative/libertarian more conservative than libertarian but a hybrid of both.
I think there are far bigger issues in our society than a flag. Prior to this year no one gave a damn about the flag and then when someone is offended everyone is up in arms about it. Get over it. I am offended Christians are being slaughtered by Radical Muslims yet I will have to get over that too because there is nothing I can do to stop that on a global scale. Racism still is present for both colors regardless of some flag.
People need to be less easily offended and politically correct. If what I say hurts your feelings too bad deal with it.

I was referring to the coal industry and climate change, Church money and evolution of science. Other corporations are just there for tax loopholes.
THEDIRTYBUBBLEIm not conservative, but leftism is a mental disorder.
Steve Jobs and Elon Musk are self proclaimed hippy/liberals declaring you'll never fully understand them without trying acid. Also launched a company nearing 1 trillion value and colonizing Mars. Mental disorder?
I'm going out on a whim and guessing your life will not contain self made success by any serious measure.

Successful people can have mental disorders. Every political stance is a mental disorder. I'm going to go out on a whim, and guess that your life will contain nothing but bitching, blaming, and blundering.
Ooo internet fight beginning. I'm probably a thousand miles from you and licensed my automatic wallet utility patent to quicksilver for a pretty penny and may "retire" before 30, please continue when you have time outside your double shift day job.

your steve jobs post was a total bait for him to respond so that you could drop your own "success" story.

Dog, I am a conservative. I have extensively done research on climate and know for a fact humans have no affect on the earths climate. Earths temp hasn't changed in 19 years and sea ice is growing(7 year trend). If you want to respond to my comment and say I am wrong, you need to actually provide evidence.
And Oil isn't a thing of the past. It's our only option. If you think we are going to change that any time soon, you head is truly square up your ass.
And yeah, every civilization has fallen because they moved away from conservative views. Thats a fact

Sea ice has absolutely nothing to do with climate change you need to look at land ice.

There's this organization called NASA, they send orbiting spectrometers and probes above our atmosphere, and funny thing they all disagree with you for some reason.
WVskiingI have extensively done research on climate and know for a fact humans have no affect on the earths climate.
So are you one of the underwhelming minority of climate scientists that denies anthropogenic climate change? Many of whom are paid by organizations that have financial interests in maintaining the status quo?
WVskiingIf you want to respond to my comment and say I am wrong, you need to actually provide evidence.
Scientists who are experts on these subjects are paid to study these phenomena. They make recommendations by an looking at data with on an immense breadth of professional experience and background knowledge. Almost all would disagree with you. Your little rant on a skiing website has done nothing to convince me otherwise. I'm going to go ahead and trust the scientists.

1. You posted a graph of energy supply. Unfortunately for you, it's irrelevant. Energy supply in this context is energy generated, not energy potential or energy resources. Unlike most of your "factual" claims, it is a fact that all resources on this planet are finite. They are not here in infinite quantities for our God-given use, as you seem to imply. In what quantities they may exist is unknown to me, but it is indisputable that they are finite.
2. You fail to make the distinction between different types of energy. Oil is predominantly used as a transportation fuel. While the distributed nature of its use is convenient, centralized energy generation is generally more efficient, easier to keep clean, and cost effective due to scale. You neglect to mention the larger share of GHG used to produce energy for electricity/industry, which largely comes from coal.
3. It is a fact that, barring cost, an ideal energy generation situation would have no effect on our environment, regardless of how impossible that ideal may be.
4. It is a fact that burning things - oil, coal, gas, name it - is the same way we've generated energy for thousands of years. One would think that in this age of amazing technology and innovation, we could at least be looking forward to or be supportive of the development of fundamentally different, radically improved energy generation methods. Nice forward thinking perspective you got there. Way to be looking to the future.
Nice, bro. You really showed them. you'd get a crazy amount of upvotes and maybe some gold if you posted this on /r/feelthebern.
All you fucking conservatives and liberals are retards and are doing a fabulous job of ruining this country. Enjoy your celebrity candidates and reality TV debates. We're all fucked and no one wants to do anything about it besides link/share Bernie quotes on facebook and try to get offended at stuff.

LOL googling news websites on climatology is not "extensive research"
Do I really need to go dig up one of the several hundred PEER REVIEWED journals by people with PHD's in the field to prove you wrong? Do some real research and find some real evidence disagreeing with climate change and get back to me. Citing the fact that Donald Trump doesn't believe in it is not a viable source. And yes, I am generally conservative when it comes to economics and social issues, but for republicans to be the vast minority of people that refuse to believe proven science is a little ridiculous and getting old quite frankly. Every one of their arguments republicans have used against the topic have been rejected, they are running out of ideas

I find it so cute when conservatives bullshit about climate change. Congratulations on looking up a nice little spreadsheet with some tables. I'd provide evidence but other people have. So I'm just going to say that something like 95% of all scientists agree climate change is real and humans are accelerating the time of climate change. Now you can disagree with the scientistsits. But who is more likely to be right? A 15 year old who believes in a fluffy god in the ski or the men and woman who have dedicated their lives to the pursuit of knowledge.
Look, I am not gonna sit here and argue with you. But If man made climate change is real and we are exponentially increasing CO2 emissions, why is the earth's temperature not changing. This is a big sign in the face saying that the theory is wrong.
I am just saying, how can you be SO convinced with this data presented????

Want to know how I know you're not a scientist? It's because you feel comfortable cherry picking data to fit your assertion. That's not how science works. You have to look at the all of the data objectively. By allowing your emotions and biases influence your interpretations of data, you are automatically steering your conclusions away from those that are readily apparent.
The graphs you posted go back what, 15 years? And that's your evidence? Seriously? NASA does not agree with you and climate scientists would cringe at your amateur and incorrect conclusions based on their data. To correctly interpret that data, you need to have a thorough understanding of how the earth's climate works. The scientists that have those credentials are in near-unanimous consensus that anthropogenic climate change is real. Some may scoff at the redefinition of "global warming" to "climate change" but even our leading climate scientists are still learning about how all these puzzle pieces fit together.
I'm not one of those climate scientists and I'm not going to enter a pissing contest about credentials, but let me try and explain.
Temperature is a measure of energy. However, measuring temperature does not account for all different types of energy. While earth's temperature may not be rising on a daily, or even annual, basis, the greenhouse gases, namely carbon dioxide, in the atmosphere are trapping the suns energy close to our planet. Some of that energy may go to slowly increasing the temperature, but it also does other things - things that are abnormal and that we can notice and measure. These indicators tell us that we do have an effect on our planet's climate and we can trace that back to our carbon emissions.
Take a simple example. When you drop an ice cube into a glass of room-temperature water, it melts, and the water gets cold. However, the temperature of that ice cube is 0 degrees celsius until it disappears. The energy transferred from the water to the ice cube did not raise its temperature. However, it did affect the internal energy of the ice, which causes it to change phases from solid to liquid. This energy change cannot be sensed with a thermometer, but can be observed simply with one's eyes with the knowledge that a liquid has more energy than a solid.
Every year, glaciers recede and polar ice melts. The frozen arctic tundras are thawing, and will soon release tons of methane gas into the atmosphere - methane is an even more powerful greenhouse gas than carbon dioxide. However, the extra energy in the earth's atmosphere does other things too, causing an increase in severe climactic excursions like hurricanes and extreme temperature events.
You don't have to be a liberal or a conservative to acknowledge the following:
1) The number "1 billion" is beyond human comprehension. You cannot picture it, sense it, or internalize it. Our minds were not made to understand such scales. Yet there are 7 billion people on this planet.
2) Our planet is not immune from us. We are not freckles on earth's ass anymore. We have covered the planet, dominated all other life here, and controlled our environment. These have been spectacular achievements on so many levels and have contributed so much good to our species, but to think that this is a free lunch, that we could just do and do and take and take forever is ridiculous. Coupled with the fact that the number of people on earth is already beyond comprehension, this is startling.
3) Every single person on this planet wants and needs energy. Humanity's energy needs are only going to increase, especially as India, China, and other similar countries strive to become "first world" nations.
Don't be one of those people who doubts scientists because "science is their job, so their opinion must be biased" or because it doesn't meet your political or social views, whatever they may be. The world's best and brightest are committed to making this planet habitable for humanity long after they are gone. The nature of science is much more altruistic than many claim.
Please, please, stop spreading your garbage. Take a seat, and listen to those who have worked their entire lives to gain an understanding about how nature behaves. Though their word is not law and all science is subject to revision as new evidence becomes available, they are far more qualified to speak on this matter than you, and have analyzed ALL of the evidence with experienced eyes.
Conservatives, liberals, and all people need to realize that humans have and will continue to affect and influence our environment and not in the most positive ways.
Look, I am not gonna sit here and argue with you. But If man made climate change is real and we are exponentially increasing CO2 emissions, why is the earth's temperature not changing. This is a big sign in the face saying that the theory is wrong.
