Replying to Are there people here that don't really ski anymore?
Just curious, is there anyone else that regularly goes on NS that doesn't really ski much anymore?
I used to ski a lot when I was younger. I was fortunate to have my winter sport in high school be skiing so got to go 5 days a week to a local mountain. I then wen to college in Maine so I was able to go to Sunday River or Sugarloaf most weekends and a local mountain during the week.
Now I am two and a half years removed from college and don't really get to do much skiing anymore. I live in CT and work in finance so I am pretty busy. The closest 'mountain' is probably about an hour away and decent mountains are 3+ hours in NH/VT. I don't have that many opportunities to have a weekend away to go skiing and a lot of the time I need the weekend to just relax and re-coop from the work week.
Now I am not complaining about any of this because I like my job and the opportunities it has given me, but I was just wondering if there is anyone else in the same boat as me? I'll probably end up skiing 5 days this winter, but I am on NS regularly. I like the community on here, keeping up with what is going on in the sport, watching edits, etc. It's fun to just waste some time on NSG and see what people have to say about big news in and out of the ski industry. It seems like most active members are people who are skiing a lot each winter but it's not clear if there are many that come on here because they love skiing but don't have the opportunity to do it much.
If you are one of those people who doesn't get to ski as much as they would like to, what makes you keep coming back to NS? Has life just made it that you can't ski as much as you like but you still want it to be a part of you?
