Girlfriends and skiing

So the other day my girlfriend and I were talking about skiing. I noticed throughout the conversation that she was becoming annoyed. when I asked why she said I was obsessed with skiing. She further went on to say that my obsession is unhealthy. Moral of the story is I don't give a fuck and my girlfriend just doesn't get it. Anyone else have something like this happen?

I had a few girlfriends (claim!), none of them skis... First one wasn't happy about my passion and the fact I left her alone almost every weekend... We were over for other reasons, but I think skiing made his part... Now when season is about to start I ask myself: "Will I renounce to my ski weekend for her?", if the answer is no then is time to talk with her and quit that shit

I've found just two girl who were perfect enough to make me say "I'm eventually ready to lost my ski day to teach them how to ski"... They friendzoned me so it's not my problem anymore and I can ski and après-ski thoughtless every weekend

My girlfriend is afraid of slopes. Yes, you heard right, she has a fear of going down hills, even if in a car. Oh and she absolutely despises skiing.

So I bought her a a pair of skis for her birthday this year. Let's see how it goes...

My dad has given me great advice when it comes to skiing with another female. After he graduated college, he went out to Snowbird, Utah with his girlfriend who he had been dating for a few years. Him and his girlfriend worked together for a year at the mountain and he said it was great. One day in march, it was a gnarly powder day. They got first tram and as soon as they got off my dad started hauling for the Cirque Traverse, behind him, all he heard was complaining from the female. "You shouldn't have f**king brought me! This is s**t." My dad stood there, at the top of the cirque, untracked, fresh powder. When the female got to him, she said "Why did you want to this! This is the worst!" My father looked her in the eye, a female he had dated for four years now, and said simply "Fuck you". He dropped in and had the best powder run of his life. He knew she was going to be okay to get down so he ripped powder all day. Two days later his girlfriend moved back to the east coast, and he stayed and ripped pow. Moral of the story, it's good to have a girlfriend you can ski with, but if they start bitching on one of the best days of the season, leave them behind and focus on getting sendy.

bardissonoI have trust issues when girls tell me that they ski because of my ex... All she did all winter when I would leave (for my ski instructor job) was make me feel guilty despite talking about how much she snowboarded growing up. She never really made any effort to go up. Relationships need a mutual understanding of passions and without that it's just not going to work.


This my friend is what mine does. She guilts me if I mention going skiing without her.

My ex and I would skip all the time and he taught me all I know! I am super stoked on it and it was the best part of our relationship!

Maybeeeeeee just ask her if she wanted to try it out, or you can show her why you love it so much. Maybe then she will back off a bit. Even compare it to something she is obsessive over.

Haha yea of course man. My girlfriend say's I'm too addicted and obsessed with skiing. I don't really care though. I mean i could stop showing her edits everyday but.. whatever

My girl used to race and do big mountain competitively, she blew her knee one year and has had an iffy relationship with skiing ever since. She wants me to wear a brain bucket and be safe and whatnot, which is no biggie but I feel like she definitely thinks I care about skiing more than her.. whenever I'm watching edits or like talking about it she just shuts down, I really think she just doesn't wanna see me get hurt but like... shit hurts. everything can potentially hurt you lol. I enjoy the sport no less and like my skis are never going to wake up and tell me they don't love me anymore so I'm obviously going to keep the sport in my life no matter what.

skiara.I was sure to make the wise decision to never date anyone who didn't ski. And it has paid off. Nothing better then park lapping with your boy and then going home to watch ski movies.

I highly suggest it.

I've made the mistake of dating someone in the past that didn't love snowboarding as much as I did. Being outside in the mountains is the most exhilarating thing ever.. maybe I'm close to being obsessed with riding but I think it's much worse to not be passionate about anything and frankly unattractive. If you're wildly passionate about something, find a person who is too or you'll end up resenting them in time.

My girlfriend skied and although we've only been together for one weekend, it was probably one of the most fun times I've had together. She'd not been skiing for 4 years before we went together so I assumed she'd not be great but she was better than I expected. We skied groomers all day then went back to the apartment. She understands how much I love skiing and she wants to be involved in it. She's willing to let me ski on my own every few days so I can ski at my own pace as well. We're going to France for a week at Christmas so I'm very excited to see how that pans out.

I've been skiing with my SO for 6 years now, seems to be working out for us. He is a snowboarder though, which makes for a nice dichotomy. It's nice to see another side of snowsports, and because we both have our different disciplines we are never in direct competition. He can't ever be too critical of my skiing, or if he is I'm just "pfft, whatever mr. snowboarder." and vice versa, like when I make fun of him on ice. It works out nicely.

At this point I'm too involved in skiing to be able to relate to someone that wasn't into snowsports. That person would have to be equally passionate about their own interests and understanding of mine, and even then I think it would be difficult. When you love something this much, you just want to share it with everyone. Not being able to do that with your partner would be painful.

So I dumped him because he was a huge Sally.

My season ended in an ambulance ride last year. I don't feel like that is helping my cause.
