Hd4000 vs hd2000

cdipOn monday I am going to pickup a hd4000. Its a really good deal and the same price as a hd2000..

But I am wondering my camera with lens mic and quick plate is only 3.8 lbs and the 4000 weight range is 4-10 lbs Capacity.

Will this affect balance majorly?

nutz.grab the 4000, put some weights on the top and balance the top and bottom, then you're good to go. That's what I've been doing at least haha.

nutz.Honestly you dont really need to do that, zip tie some washers to the cheeseplate and gaff tape it so it doesnt jiggle around, way cheaper than those weight plates bh sells haha

But just so you know, the weights for the hd1000,2000,4000 are all the same. As far as superior balancing......... I'm not sure how to respond to that lol. No? the glidecam hd series are all the same outside of size/payload.

So yeah just get the hd4000, flip it and then buy the 2000 if you don't want to buy weights for the 4000. Or if you dont want to go through the trouble just buy the 2000. Either way you should probably do some more research on glidecams/how to balance and use them.

eheathEach model is for a different sized camera, 1000 the smallest and 4000 the largest, pretty straight froward.

eheathEach glidecam has a weight range, I can't tell you the exact numbers you should look it up. But I can tell you have a dslr you don't need a 4000, I used a 4000 pro with my hvx and fs100 but it "works" with my gh3 which is a fraction of the size of those other cameras. Don't just buy a 4000 because its more expensive.

With a weight plate my whole rig will be a bit over 4lbs. Ill be fine right?

nutz.I mean yeah, you could always just remove one or two of the bottom plates if you find that it's too top heavy.

Just make sure it's balanced and you're good to go.
