Replying to Can a ski be too wide?

Sorry if this is already a thread but someone help me out. Been skiing forever but Ive never skied powder, Im from New York and just moved to Salt Lake City. Ive skied a NY powder day which means theres heavy ass snow barely covering your skis.

Bought an Alta pass this year and looking for some fatties. Is it possible to be too wide?
I want a ski that will easily float in pow but if it ever isnt deep, I dont wanna be screwed and hate my life cause I cant turn or have fun.

Whats the widest ski you guys would buy, or do you have any opinions about ski width when skiing stuff that isnt groomers and park.
