Where to ski out west?

I'm going out west for winter break and I'm super stoked. I haven't decided where to go yet though so I thought I'd ask NS. I've never been out west before so I was wondering what some of the best places to ski are? Thanks!

im from the east, ive been to Utah once and Colorado twice.

Utah - Better snow
Colorado - Legal weed

Makes the decision tough but ive gone to Colorado twice so that kinda tells you something

The mountains in CA are rad as hell...

...when they have snow on them.



But, so far so good on the early winter start. I already have 2 days skiing in out here, which considering I had less than 10 last season, I'll probably eclipse last years total by Thanksgiving.

I guess its pretty similar, you probably get in the same amount of distance in a day because of life lines, but the terrain and the snow is far better out west (I think), and its something that I've been wanting to do for a while, just never had the money to do it. Skiing on the east is still the shit though.

During the winter, Hood is flat.

(although meadows is fine. Timberline is snoozefest)

That was sarcasm bro haha. The terrain and snow are not even comparable. Totally different ballparks. Ski out west and you'll never want to ski this shit again!

Colorado resorts (Summit County in particular) will be absolutely packed during winter break.

I'm not trying to deter you if you're thinking about going to CO, just be aware that it will be very crowded.

alta would be my pick, but it really depends on what kind of skiing you wanna do/what kind of skier you are.

It all depends on what kind of skiing you would like to do. If you're looking for a fun challenging mountain, Alta and snowbird would be my picks. If you're looking for something more relaxing with a lot of cruisers, I would go with deer valley. They do everything for you there.

This is a solid list. I'd rule out anything in Colorado except Telluride and Crested Butte.

Depending on snow, I'd pick either Big Sky, Whistler, Alta/Snowbird, Jackson, Mammoth, or a combo of Squaw Valley/Kirkwood, maybe Mt. Baker if it's cold.

Telluride is awesome if you can afford it. I was there on a weekend and I kid you not, ZERO lift lines. And it's just an incredible place.
