Park Ski's Advice

Hi NS,

I am looking for a park ski for this season. I am VERY NEW TO PARK and landed my first 3 on my last holiday but I am doing my first season in WHISTLER this year.

What kind of ski would provide this?

I am a COMPETENT BIG MOUNTAIN SKIER and I'm going to be teaching on my season. My everyday ski is Volkl Mantra 184 and I wear Dalbello boots (great combo) for general skiing.

I own Line Blends ($200 with bindings for messing around on) but they're too wide and aren't centre mounted as they're ex rental.

I like the idea of getting Chronics as what I have read on this forum suggest they're great. Would love something playful but a decent stiffness for shredding round the piste but also off piste if the weather turns or it is just where the day takes me.

Also been looking at ON3P FR's, Line FutureSpins and Volkl One's (As I already love Volkl).

I am 6ft 1 and 75kgs so what would people suggest length wise as well (NORMALLY SKI 184 as said above)?

Any help is appreciated as I really want to get some park ski's at the beginning of the season and want some advice.

Griffons or FKS? already have Griffons on my Volkls and Squires on the cheap Blends.

If youre new to park, I wouldnt reccomend a ski with rocker. I'd reccomend the ON3P prester. Basically the FR but cambered.

Armada Ar7 size 181 would be a good option for you. they are playfull in the tip and tail and are pretty stiff underfoot.

Why is rocker bad if you're newish to park?

I like the idea of them being more flexy and an early rise, my Mantra's have that early rise which makes them good all round and good when it gets a bit of snow. Would be good if I had something that could be used for a bit of both as I'm likely to ski more all mountain and dip in and out of the park.

I also dknt recommend FRS as well due to rocker. It's harder to control a rockered ski and they are they generally wash out more and are less sturdy. They also have better response for eveything like rails. I recommend Chronics, Presters, Icelantic Gypsy skny, and shreditor 92s.

don't listen to these guys (not trying to be rude)
you get used to the rocker it was my first legit ski and they ride really nice you will like them! get them in 186 i promise you that you will be in love with them! i miss mine!!!
