Yes, men have more muscle mass or and strength. So if it were the 100m dash, without of question the majority of men should beat the majority of women. But how many sports are truly just a test of physical strength? So many of them have a skill component in them.
This is the quite of debate that could go in circles. But you have to consider the major role that society plays in defining gender in play/ sport. Even at extremely young ages boys are typically encouraged to participate in activities that promote their development in sport (rough housing and tumbling), where as females as are encouraged to participate in more interactive games, which many believe that typically females are over performing males in school.
