Where to travel? and tips for ski bumming?

Hello NS,
Im 18 years old and in 1st year of university in Winnipeg Manitoba Canada, (The middle of nowwhere, in the middle of the flatest part of Canada). I would like to save up some cash (3000$ approximatly) in advance and take october - march (ish) off, of the 2015-2016 ski season. I am prepared to work whereever i decied on going. I would love to go to a mountain that has a decent park as i have been skiing a 100 ft llong ditch on the outskirts of Winnipeg for the past 4 years with a park crew of only snowboarders, with only 10-12 raisl and one 30foot jump that is a death trap, (the snowboarders think icing the jump is good for it). Does anyone have any reccomendations on how much i should save up? As well as where i shoud move (Preferably in Canada for the free health care) with a good park, I'm also willing to drop some cash on some powder skis depending on the location. I would rather spend minimal cash and am hopefully going to be rooming with someone so we can split the cots. As well as does anyone have any tips and hints they can give me in preparation, and things to prepare for?

Depends on what you like and prefer. There will be a lot of people that say Whistler, but it's expensive to live there. I like Lake Louise a lot personally. It's not cheap there either, but the natural beauty of Banff is amazing.

If you plan on working wherever, 2,000-3,000 will do you just fine; even could be a little over doing it depending on how frugal you can live. Good luck man.

If you're willing to leave Canada, then SLC/PC is a good bet. Relatively cheap housing + access to some really nice terrain and an open job market... You really can't go wrong. I'm not too knowledgable on the Canadian ski bum lifestyle other than Whistler.

Good luck OP! I'll envy your life if you go through with this.

dont do this, the way the exchange rate is going these days youre lookin at $0.70 on the dollar for your savings if you leave canada this winter

thanks man ya I was thinking about whistler but it is very expensive as I know people who live there

thanks man and ya whistler might end up being the best bet because of the terrain. but I would need at least 2 people to split costs with as it would be insanely expensive

the main set back about the states is the Canadian dollar is awful. as well as it would help to be 21 and I'm only 18. does anyone know if Kelowna or panerama would be a good cheap choice?

Save as much as you can. You'll be surprised how fast you can blow through $3K even if you do have a job. Also the more you save now, the less time you'll have to spend off the mountain working.

How ski bumish are you willing to go haha? Living out of your car would be the cheapest option, but I wouldn't want to do that for months on end in winter.

i could most likely live out of my car for couple of weeks if needed but im really just wantng to know which is the best resort/place to live in
