gnartogueand it was reviewed by law enforcement officials and the school and it was deemed excessive force and he was fired. I'm guessing the people who made the decision to fire him know a lot more about the definition of excessive force than you do
THEDIRTYBUBBLEThe officer's duty is to remove the girl from the premesis. Which he did. Excessive force would be if he were to taze/mace her.
S.J.WSo explain how then how he was fired for suing excessive force? Or is your defitionation of exessive force different from that of the actual police???
THEDIRTYBUBBLEThe police definitely aren't trying to cover their asses either.

gnartogueThats the fucking stupidest thing ive heard all day honestly. It would only be excessive force if he tazed/maced her? Where is the logic on that? How is ripping her from a desk and throwing her 5 feet not just has bad? There is no question that there were countless other ways to deal with the situation that her less violent to the girl and less disturbing to the class.

butterslut. That guy was sending out a message that if you disrespect him he will bring you to your knees. It's not something he hasn't done before.
pat_in_the_hatWhich honestly needs to be done. Thats the role of a police officer, to enforce. That girl had absolutely no respect for the law and needed to be shown how to respect a police officer. So whats going to happen outside of school when she robs a bank or kills someone because she believes she is higher than the law?
butterslut.approaching matters of disrespectful children at an early age through counseling and discipline is a much more effective and less brutal way of handling problem children than excessive force like this. There are resources at public schools for helping those kids. This also isn't the first time he's had an overaggressive encounter with someone. http://www.nydailynews.com/news/national/army-vet-recalls-rough-encounter-sc-dep-ben-fields-article-1.2412418
yes, this article is very biased, but the point is he beat up an army vet for calling him dude and told the other officers to get his wife's "black ass" and many people claim that he racially profiles black students claiming that they are in gangs given no evidence of them actually doing illegal activity. If you ask me, this was a racist cop recklessly subduing an under aged girl.
L_BI can't wait to be a black cop who ruin's white kids lives to the fullest extent of the law.
AidanCskiI don't care what she said or what she did, no one deserves to get treated like that. This cop is a scumbag and the fact that some of you don't COMPLETELY side against him is ridiculous. He essentially manhandled this poor fifteen year old girl, breaking her arm, and shaming her in front of her classmates. Racism is tearing this country apart.
pat_in_the_hati agree, her issues should have been worked out at a younger age. With parental discipline. But not with counseling. Counseling is for parents who dont want to put the time and effort into raising their own child. They would rather let their money raise their child.
And im not even considering what the police officer did in the past. For all I care, he could have been the president of the united states. If he wouldnt have taken an aggressive action, that teenage girl would have walked all over him, disrespected him and not have left the classroom. Then how would the entire school body view this police officer? As a puss. Sure, it was a bit too aggressive. But it has been stated that the girls actions made it look alot worse then what the officer intended.
Anyway, im done. arguing on an internet forum is pointless.

TheHornyOrphanI would call this bad logic but the word logic and this post shouldn't be in the same sentence. Oops
JibInMyPantsMom should have beat the shit out of that kid long before the officer had to. I don't support brutality, but if parents did the right thing all of these kids would at least respect a lawful authority.
Sparta
L_BAny parent who tells their child to blindly follow the authorities simply because they are in power is a shit parent and an idiot.
JibInMyPantsThat was never my point. I'm talking about blatant disrespect towards an officer of the law while clearly being in the wrong. Anyone who does this isn't a social martyr, just an asshole. The parents job is to prepare the child to make their own decisions in a way that betters humanity. Not be a fucking tool...

L_Bsee to me that "in the wrong" is a big part of it.
THEDIRTYBUBBLEAll joking aside, if you think the cop was out of line then you are logically impaired

soulskierHow would any of you handled this?
I'm curious on both sides of the argument...what you would have done as the student and what would you have done as the cop?
RusticlesBefore she was assaulted she was not in the wrong????
L_Bnaw this situation is different from what i'm talking about.
She was an idiot brat, he was an overbearing asshole.
Both probably have daddy issues.
But I don't believe in respecting cops just because they're cops, and parents regularly tell their kids that. I would hope parents would tell their kids this:
to respect the fact that the cop can use a wide range of force, respect the fact that some cops have anger managment issues/PTSD/itchy trigger fingers, and let the respect end there until they earn any more personally.
There are assholes who abuse power in every career, and people should be wary of that in every aspect of their lives. The differences with cops is the assholes get to have guns, tasers and hancuffs. So you should probably try bit harder not to piss them off than the average person, but not because you respect them as good people, but because you know how much damage they can cause in your life. If you don't react, film them, sue them, you can damage a cop's life almost as badly. You just have to remember in that moment you don't have leverage, but by being patient you can screw them over.

butterslut.this is why im afraid of my brother becoming a cop (which is what he is going to be). he was raised by my grandpa who is very racist and has racist tendencies even though he claims not to be. He is also the type of person to demand respect even though he doesn't respect you. Growing up with him, he always screamed "SHOW ME RESPECT" whenever we fought, but we were always fighting because he would have hit me or taken my gameboy or did some disrespectful shit to me. which also stems from daddy issues, so here's a concept, before anyone is cop they need to go through an intensive therapy screening/sessions

CoreyTrevorgirls a lil disrespectful bitch.
this nations gone to shit.
cop went a little far maybe, but doesnt anyone with a fuckin pulse know you never touch a cop? she had it coming, fuck her
mirozOur law enforcement officers should expected to be held to a higher standard.

jblaskiThe students from the school protested by staging a "walk out" and rally in SUPPORT of the officer. To me, that says a TON about the incident. When this new generation of entitled douchebags even say that the officer doesn't deserve to lose his job, people should probably think twice.

mirozJust discussing (not arguing), maybe you'll respond to me.
So are you implying that it's up to law enforcement to deal our children and their issues? That's our tax dollars, and while I don't mind paying taxes, I sure as hell would rather have you pay for your kids to go to counseling than to have tax funded law enforcement teach them discipline and to respect authority.
pat_in_the_hatnot at all man. I was saying that her parents should have raised a more respecting child. police interaction is the final straw. If I were her parents, she would be shipped away for boarding school or in bootcamp for the army, depending on her age
