Poor Kid Wants a Good Camera

I've been getting really into filming lately, and as the ski season approaches, I am really looking forward to dank edits. The problem is that all that I have for a camera is a gopro hero 3, which I love but just doesn't produce the video quality that I'd like. I've been looking into SLRs lately but they are very expensive and the most I want to pay is around 300 - 350$. Honestly, the allure of having an SLR is something that's influencing me, as you look legit when you have one. I'm a high school kid so unfortunately the budget is limited. Any feedback is appreciated.

For $300, you won't get anything better than a gopro.

Save up some money, a t3i with a couple lenses and a mic would be around $600-700

how badly do you really want it is the real question?
i worked my ass off and put all my money towards camera gear in high school
by the time i had graduated i had a dslr with 4 or 5 lenses, mic, tripod, handle

the old I'm a high school kid deal really is more of an excuse than anything!

I mean I'm in highschool and I'm glad I invested in gear because I actually freelance now. Put some money down, get good, freelance and make it back! Also don't get a canon rebel series unless you're dead set on it. Get a sony a6000 or a panny g6, well worth it in the end.

The gopro is a great camera it just takes more work in post to make it look good... don't think that you need a dslr to get into filmaking

This. In high school you don't have bills or anything. So get a job and save up. You will have a good setup in no time!!!
