you can probably find a t3i or something like that on ebay for around that price, I saw one go for 160 on craigslist so the deals are out there. about 200 is what the t2i+kit lens is going for now and would be a good option for you

12steezy34I've been getting really into filming lately, and as the ski season approaches, I am really looking forward to dank edits. The problem is that all that I have for a camera is a gopro hero 3, which I love but just doesn't produce the video quality that I'd like. I've been looking into SLRs lately but they are very expensive and the most I want to pay is around 300 - 350$. Honestly, the allure of having an SLR is something that's influencing me, as you look legit when you have one. I'm a high school kid so unfortunately the budget is limited. Any feedback is appreciated.

Coming from another kid who's in high school, stick with the GoPro. Learn how to optimize your settings depending on what it is that you're filming. Mess with the wideness of the image (narrow, medium, wide). Anything slow-mo, use a higher fps. Get an editing program and learn how to color grade. While getting an slr may be better in the long run as you get more and more into filming, it requires a rather large learning curve to really get what you're looking for. They're also expensive af. If your school offers a video production class like mine does, try and take it and work with your teacher to get learn as much as you can. They may even loan you a camera like mine does. If you're on a budget make the most of what you've got.

GoPro's are capable of doing a lot more than you think they are. SLVSH films their edits with a GoPro I'm pretty sure.

Gopro's are great and the 3 is defiantly high quality as EazyMoney said SLVSH use them and I'm pretty sure level1 small world and good company used some shots from Gopro's its about the editing of the footage more than anything.
