This is a counter to THEDIRTYBUBBLE's depressing book thread, because I've never actually read a book that disappointed me.

The Art of Racing in the Rain is a phenomenal read, along with It by Stephen King.

I think The Road by Cormac McCarthy might be my favorite book to date. I also recently finished Wolf Hall which was fantastic. Can't believe it took me so long to get around to reading it

"It" is a really good book. My dad grew up in Bangor Maine where most of his books are set (since Steven King lives there) and he was in middle school when that gay kid was thrown off the bridge. that actually happened. When I was little I went to my grandparents for halloween and Trick or Treating at King's house is scary AF, he has a legit real life haunted house. it has like moving bookcases and shit, and his fence is black iron and has little bats welded into it and spikes and shit.

but all of Tolkien's stuff is good, and even though its for kids, I'm a big fan of my side of the mountain and Hatchet and books like that, I guess it still sparks a little bit of childhood wonder at the thought that I could go out and live in the woods.

Call it cliché, but I loved World War Z. I'm also still reading the Walking Dead comics. I like zombies, as you can tell (but WWZ was genuinely a great book).

Apparently it's a movie now but "a walk in the woods" by Bill Bryson is sincerely worth the read. Regular ass dudes hiking the AT, or at least trying..it's funny as shit. "The Last Season" can't remember who by right now but it's legitimately intriguing. "The Wild Trees" by Richard Preston - again, regular dudes trying to measure the tallest trees in the world in Cali back in the day. And of course "The Monkey Wrench Gang" by Ed Abbey...Heyduke is your inner child

yeah he was standing by the door at the end giving out candy. I didn't fully appreciate it because I was young when I did it but I did meet him. He's a pretty dope guy though. He does a lot for the city of Bangor.

1984 and Animal farm by George Orwell. Two of my favs.
Macbeth is on of my favs too. Mainly because i saw a creepy modern movie version and then re-read the play after and loved it.
