Colorado Skiing

So a friend and I will be in CO for some college visits and we really want to get a day of skiing in. We'll be visiting the University of Boulder on November 6th and were wondering if any mountains near there would be open on November 7th and if any Newschoolers wanted to show some East Coasters where it's at!

Nov 7th? Ski whatever is open - Copper, A-Bay, (maybe Keystone #stretch). Stay away from the grass and rocks...and crapton of people. They don't tell you this in the handbook, but ski in defensive stance.

Abasin and loveland will be open by then. Coppers projected date is Nov 6th, Keystone is opening on Nov 7th. There are cold nights here so I'm guessing everyone will be able to hit their projected opening days. All of those are 1.5ish hours from Boulder

Keystone and Copper will have the best park setup, if they open accordingly, which they should.

yea its been pretty cold up in Summit the past few days. Was in Vail for their ski swap last weekend and it was dumping up there.

Keystone usually has the best early season park in my opinion and will open on November 6th

Usually early January, depends on how cold Denver is. Last year we had a few 50-60 degree days in the middle of January that melted it out pretty good

jabroni.ruby hill usually opens in december or january depending on conditions in denver


ruby kill is always open, just byo snow and rails

Eldora would be your closest but it aint supposed to open til the 20th. But Eldora is a much smaller mountain, comparable to your average east coast spot in terms of size alone (great views of the divide though).

If I were you I'd shoot for those two resorts off Loveland pass everyone else keeps mentioning. They're most likely going to be your only options for the duration of your trip and they will give you a more "rocky mountain" skiing experience than any other spot at this point in the season.
