Faction Candide 2.0 mounting

This is my first post but I've been on newschoolers for about a year now. I finally have the set up I've been wanting to buy and I need some advice on mounting position. My set up includes 178 Faction candide 2.0, fks 140 bindings, and salomon xpro 100 boots. I weigh 170 lbs and I'm 5'9. I will rarely be in the park so that means no rails, mostly trees, but I will hit jumps and work on riding switch. After reading some reviews on my ski I'm deciding between mounting at freestyle or between freestyle and recommended, I don't have the exact measurements for the points either.

if you wont be in the park regularly then dont centermount it. i would say in between recommended and center if you want to still throw decent trick and ski switch but you will have a better time if its not in the center

Id go with around -3cm from true center. It worked well for me. The closer to center you go the harder it will be to initiate carves, I speak from experience. It really makes a big difference. -3 will allow you to ride switch but you won't lose too much ability to get into and out of carves

I have nearly the exact same question - Faction 172 CT 2.0's, FKS 180's - but don't want mount too far forward as I don't spend much time on rails nor land switch very often. I do however use the park jump features extensively and ride switch when on the ground.

5' 7", 165lbs

I'm thinking +2 cm which is halfway between the "All-mountain Boot Center" (0) and the "Candide Boot Center" (+ 4 cm) Thoughts?

Also - the FKS 180's come with toe-piece shim kits. I assume they are to adjust the ramp angle of the boot to level (vice toe-down). Options are: no shims, 1mm, 4mm and 5mm (1+4 shims stacked)...Any input on a 5mm toe-down riding stance by not using the shims?
Seems like no shims would make switch easier.

skied the 1.0s last year and at first mounted them 'freestyle centre' to use for everything. when I had to remount I mounted centre and was using them for park mostly and preferred it.
The 'recommended' seems so far back on the CT series that I wouldn't consider it unless you really are not doing any freestyle or switch stuff.

When my 2.0s arrive this year that im going to mount centre as I ski a lot of park.
If I were you I would mount 'freestyle centre' or whatever they call it, basically the one in between centre and recommended.

I have mounted my ct3.0 and ct4.0 at the candide recommend mounting. As I see it the guy rides his skis and probably knows where they ski the best. However I have not skied either of the symmetrical variants that they make. I would like his recommended or -3 from true center if you aren't hitting a lot of rails.

I'll run with the C.T. boot position which is -2.5 aft of ski center.

Great point - Mr. Thovex is the one guy who would know where to set the bindings on the CT 2.0 and Faction wouldn't want a shovelly or sketchy ski either...

That said, with the all-mountain boot center at -6.5 cm aft ski center, I also agree that it's be set too far back for significant switch running on ground (and landings).

I'm headed to the boot tech wizards tonight and am going to ask about shims and ramp angle with the FKS - which appear to be posture-adjustment related, but we'll see. I can't see how 5 mm toe lift is going to create any considerable improvement in anything other than racing on risers.

Thanks again for the input - I'd like to find the "sweet spot" right off the bat as one can't "bracket" when mounting bindings...

I think that's a good call. The C2.0 has 20 cm of tip rocker and 15 cm of tail rocker putting the running surface center 2.5 back. That means the candide mount at 2.5 back is actually center mount for ski surface. The ski has a symmetric sidecut so that mount seems perfect.

Hey guys, always reading through threads on newschoolers but never actually posted until now. I'm in exact same boat with trying to decide where to mount Look Pivot 18's on 172cm 2.0's. I'm leaning towards the CT mounting recommendation on the topsheet but any update how mounting it there worked out for you?? I'm 5'6 150lbs and love kickers and buttering around off knuckles and cat walks, but I want to make sure I can still carve really hard if I mount at the CT location. Any advice?

I have 15 days so far on my 2.0's with them mounted on the freestyle reccomendation, and I have had a blast on them every day, I spend a lot of time in steamboat so trees, bumps, and natural features are my thing. They have done anything I could ask them to do, even in over a foot of the deep stuff they did very well for me. I do not have a racing background but I do like to rail turns on the occasional groomer and they hold an edge pretty well. Mount them at freestyle won't regret it.

I ended up going with the Candide Freestyle location. It's just slightly back from "ski center" but one of the Faction guys told me that with the rocker and the sidecut on the 2.0, the CT mount location feels like a center mount, and it's the balance point in regard to the swing weight. I absolutely love them mounted at the CT line, they are my favorite ski of all time and perform awesome in the park, carving, buttering, jibbing, and even on the days when theres a couple fresh inches. 100% recommend going with mounting them on the Candide Freestyle line, you won't be disappointed man.

I have last years model, the 15/16 green topsheet 2.0's so I can't speak to the new ones. I know the new ones were slightly updated in regard to the rocker so the CT line could be center on the new ones. Honestly in my opinion I would go with the CT no matter what, the man knows his own ski the best and they seem to perform the best for freestyle/freeride on the Candide recommended line.

If it helps...I just picked up a pair of the 2016/2017 CT 4.0's and mounted them on the CT line without even thinking twice about it.

The CT line is 1.15cm back, recommended is 4cm further back than that (so 5cm total). I went with recommended as I already have a jib ski so I'll only take them in the park for jumps and the entire camber profile is built around recommended so I figure if they market them as a "freestyle all-mtn ski" and that's where they say it'll do the job best then I guess I'll run with that.

Having said that, not got out on them yet but can't wait! Sounds like they're sick skis

Just as an FYI on CT 3.0's:

The Candide mounting line is 3cm back from true center but is core center. The All Mountain mounting line is 4cm further coming in at 7cm from true center.
