Such a good song choice....beautiful...actually may have really moved my soul and it just captures the essence of what I feel when we ski, at peace, finally at peace.

This was for sure the most powerful part of the movie. The almost silent feeling that came over the room gave me chills. It really showed a whore different aspect to skiing from the rest of the film.

I don't really understand when people try to make skiing so dramatic like this. I think upbeat music goes better with skiing footage just because it captures how fun skiing really is. To me this feels like they're trying to be a little to artistic and deep.

filming the landing angles was INSANE!! The skiers were soooo stoked on the feature and the session... Also In person that whale tail was absurdly large and for McRae to dub into it was just madness.......

usually i would agree. I love all of the super hyped up gangster rap stuff. Idk what it was about his but it was amazing to watch.

haven't seen the movie but this makes me want to see it. this was a nice pace of change, and it was honestly kinda therapeutic and soothing. always good when skiing+filming can turn out to affect your emotions so much

Did you see the movie? The rest of it was pretty upbeat, this was just a pause. I think it was edited flawlessly and it's placement in the film is necessary. It gives you a small break from crazy urban and just showcases a massive jump with tricks done to perfection.

Yeah it's such a sick segment. I feel like Whistler's incredible landscape has a diminutive effect on the people and even the helicopter. Definitely humbling like Tatum's segment in AK.

Not a fan really of the segment. I was waiting for the beat to drop and for all the riders to start dropping. Like Jeremy Pancreas didn't even get one shot in the segment???

level 1 charges a whole lottttta $ for peeps to have shots in the movie, scraps couldnt come thru with the scrilla to have a seg, and level 1 didnt come thru when we offered em 50 dollars per shot :(

This kinda sounds like you're telling lies. I was always under the impression that you got an invite to shoot with Level 1, not that you paid Level 1 to shoot with them.

You're clueless. You think Level 1 just gives companies free advertising? Like they're going to include a bunch of b roll of closeups of people with an "0" on their goggles and a "M" sticker on their helmet and not get paid?

Yes skier's get "invited" to shoot with Level 1 (sub any/all ski film production companies), but that skier's sponsors pay Level 1 to feature their athletes and products. I don't know how Level 1 structures these agreements or whatever, but you will notice in many ski movies going back for years that certain trips or locations feature athletes from one specific brand.

An example would be in some PBP movie a while ago when it was an Oakley trip (I'm pretty sure) featuring Sammy, Simon, and Jossi.

There was an Orage trip to BC a few years ago with like Banks, JP, etc.

It's not always the case where all the skiers filming at a particular location are teammates or whatever, but you will notice that it does often work out that way and it's due to money.

Not sure how the shift away from season long movies ala level 1, msp, tgr, etc. towards individual edits/content affects this structure, but I'd imagine it does in someway.

Absolutely, all ski movies are is a long well made commercial, there's nothing wrong with that but that's the way it is. The shoot you were talking about was the Nike shoot in Revolver I think, which was an awesome segment.

You guys gotta look at the big picture. Sponsors pay L1 and production companies for their athletes to be featured in the movies. If L1 starts making exceptions and putting skiers in their films without sponsor payment, then future sponsors have no inclination to contribute if the L1 is willing to feature their skiers regardless of money flow. That'd just kill L1 because no sponsors would pay them. It's politics and business but it also keeps a part of skiing that you all love alive...

That about sums it up. On the other hand, I do know L1 has denied to have skiers at shoots that sponsors are willing to back just because they don't like the skier the company is backing. So I feel having a skier like Scrappy who has a huge online following in the movie could actually bring in more movie sales and hype for the product they're selling. Bottom line is they don't really need it cause the movie is really good and is a buy and repeat watch regardless.
