I need a new pair of boots this year. Is it really that much better to get full tilts or other freeskiing based boots or would a plain old pair of dalbellos from the local ski shop be just fine for skiing park and backcountry? I don't really want to empty my wallet with full tilts, but if they are really that much better i would.

Never go for boots by reputation. Go 2 a boot fitter and get your feet fit by a fitter. Boots are the most imprtant part of your setup. If you don't have a proper fit your feet will hurt or you won't be able to drive the ski to its full potential.

Threads regarding boots are posted in the gear talk thread, if you look there you can find lots of useful information on different boots, however with boots it is always the same idea: go to the best boot fitter in your area and get fitted and get their recommendation. Every boot fits differently for every person and therefore we can't accurately recommend a boot over the internet.

Go to a boot fitter find a boot that works get that boot and also full tilts are not very expensive especially compared to other boots

most full tilts are cheap unless you go with the 8's. if you get 4 or 6 flex they're inexpensive

well dalbello is my fave boot company i have a pair and i love them more than any other boot ive used so dont be hatin on the best boots in the game.

that being said theres no such thing as just picking up some freeski boots. "freeski boots" are any boots. they just have to be the ones that fit you best or you wont have near as good a time on snow.

also if you are in dc maryland virginia area my shop has a great selection and some of the best boot fitters on the east coast

unless you work at ski center, this is debatable. Plenty of good boot fitters at the other shops in the area as well, just need to know who to talk to

I love my SPKs. Everyone is different though, some people love em, some hate them. you should try on boots that you're going to be comfortable in. don't just wear them for 2 minutes and make your decision after that time. Walk in them for a while and make sure you like them and don't have any pressure points that will hurt. That shit sucks, and it's not fun having an uncomfortable boot that you can't ski in.
