Is Killington early season worth it?

So Obviously all of us North easterners are stoked to have such an early season start this year, But would a 5 hour drive be worth it next weekend? Should I just wait and watch the weather? or should I just say screw it, cough up the $38 and ski it?

I don't know that five hours is worth the trip for the few runs they may have open. I know you wanna ski real bad as do all of us but id say wait unless you really can't haha. Im trying my best to wait.

I just assumed that they would. It could be that they are just open Sunday and Monday for 2 days total, but it doesn't make much sense stopping there.

I doubt the will be open next week with these upcoming temps...

I'm going up at the beginning of November so they have sometime to really open some trails so it isn't one trail of slush

Ya, sadly it looks like it's going to warm up next week and they might have to close back down. But I'm hoping the week after that they will stay open for the season.

maxstrYa, sadly it looks like it's going to warm up next week and they might have to close back down. But I'm hoping the week after that they will stay open for the season.


Just checked that, What a bummer. Its still unheard of around here for people to go skiing in early November too ( besides the few of us that are ski junkies) so I'll wait it out for better weather.
...Until then it looks like ill be frothing over all the opening day pics and doing the snow dance in my backyard

Really. Fucking. Cold. Snow guns at full blast. They probably had 4 or 5 inches base in the middle of the trail, a box, and a rail. Honestly I can't complain seeing as I went skiing on october fucking 18th.

5 hour drive? No way. Just to ski 1 crowded easy run and potentially mess around on a couple small rails.

If it was 1-2 hours id consider it.

yea ive driven the 5-6 hours from long island to go to opening day at Killy a few times and i wouldnt do it again. Between the drive and overall cost compared to what you get its not worth it for me. And the walk to get back to the gondola...

This year i told myself im at least waiting 2 weeks after opening day at mount snow since thats an hour closer.

hoping by mid November

Sounds a bit cliche but I usually want my first trip of the season to be really fun and memorable and honestly two or three gaper filled runs and a few rails packed with people doesn't really do it for me. General rule of thumb is wait until they have a least 3 lifts open. As much as I love skiing, it's not worth the drive or the money to ski a day like that.

If you fill your rig with friends and everyone pitches in with gas and you have a floor to sleep on. I'd mob up the evening before, sleep, wake up, ski, drive home.

I've done this ^ before for Mt. Bachelor and yes, it was worth it.

Im not going until its top to bottom. Ive gone a few times when they had the gondola and the death stairs to the triple lift and its just hell dealing with the lines and if you forget something in your bag, you have to take the gondola down. Stoked to go up in a few weeks.
