Neon Energy Drink

Hi NS, my roommate has been promoting this "new" energy drink - Neon. It's a class A pyramid scheme. I've warned him but apparently he has received checks from the company. He believes it is just getting going and has been promoting it to bars around the area. However, the only way he makes money is by signing people up..Is this illegal to do? Am I wrong for telling him it's a pyramid scheme if he's making money? Anyone have a bad experience with something like this?

Exactly. Is there any way in particular to tell if his operation is illegal? I feel like he's going to keep at it until he hears something concrete. Just looking out before he gets in to deep

Most of the time not illegal, just to scam dumb and you won't actually make money.

That shit looks sketchy. I don't think I want to drink something that glows in the dark. Also it doesn't sound to illegal to me assuming people are actually getting the drinks.

That's not the lone prerequisite to legality with a multi level marketing scheme, just look at Vemma.

I believe if you get into a pyramid scheme very early you can actually make money, if you do it right. But otherwise it's bullshit.

There is nothing illegal about what he is doing. He's simply trying to make a buck off his friends/acquaintances. He pays $59 per case of 24, then sells them for however much. If he was my friend and tried to sell me this shit, I would no longer be his friend. It's a predatory practice for losers. The shit is not cheap, not good (most likely, had never heard of it until this post) and will be a fad that fades away and dies - if you can even call it a fad. A few losers pushing it on their friends hardly qualifies it.

Want to fuck with him? Tell him you were at a party and they had a bunch there and loved it. They all wanted more and you told them that at the next party he would bring enough to sell to everyone. Tell him like 30 people wanted a case each. Then watch him spend $2K on the shit with dreams of making bank. He'll soon realize how stupid he was, and you can laugh about it for years.

I've been involved in such a business and yes it's legal as long as you don't force anyone to buy things for you. You can make money only from referrals, so it's some work to do. Well, it didn't last long, but it wasn't as bad
