How does real ski backcountry work

how are competitions like this judged?

i just get confused watching stuff like this because i cant tell what its based on.

if it was just based on visual stimulation and how "cool" the edit was i think without a doubt logan should have won.

if it was based on technical difficulty, pettits entry was best by a factor of 10 no one did anything even in the ballpark of that coulair.

so how the hell did sammy win?

Viewer voting definitely factors into it but it does seem like a pretty difficult competition to judge. While Pettit may have skied more technical lines Sammy was hucking cork sevens into pillow lines and throwing other mind blowing tricks off of huge booters so he got my vote.
