ShoelacesIt'd be better to try in the media and arts forum but it depends what you're looking for.
A standard wide angle to 50mm is the tamron 17-50 f2.8 which is pretty cheap too.
For ultra wides, the tokina 11-16mm is a good bet that lots of people love.
And for fisheye the rokinon 8mm is cheap and pretty decent.
I doubt you're using a telephoto but they're out there too
CabbyArrantif you need to get action oriented shots get something with a wide apeture. if you need to take faster frame rates then you need a faster lens.
Watty21What about L lens'?

uturnthe t3i kit lens is fine... especially if you don't know that much about film making, the lens will do everything for you. most other lenses under $1000 wont have auto focus or aperture
Watty21I currently have a canon t3i (I know it's not the best camera) I don't know much about cameras but I'm looking to do more filming this season. I've noticed the lens that came with it doesn't work great for action oriented shots. Any recommendations on a good action lens that will work for my t3i but also a better canon camera in case I decide to upgrade this year?
Watty21Thanks everyone I really appreciate the help. I'm new to all this so I'm still learning but a friend of mine also recommended a EF 24-105mm L lens as well. I recently bought a gopro to mess around with until I make my final decision on a lens. This thread has been a lot of help though!
CabbyArrantIf you have questions with anything you can hmu I'm a freelance photographer but I do enjoy sharing my experiences on the subject. I might suggest you play around with the manual mode on your camera and watch a few YouTube videos so you can learn how your camera works that will help you down the road to make your good shots great.
