Replying to Research Paper

Alright guys so here's the deal, I have to write a research paper for my English 102 class (pretty typical). However I really want to take it seriously and try my best to not make the assignment as shitty as it sounds. My teacher is pretty dope and this is without a doubt the most enjoyable class I am taking this semester so I definitely feel the need to work hard on this assignment. Anyways, the requirements are extremely lenient. Just needs to be 2500 words and an arguable topic. I want to do something that has to do with skiing since its clearly something I'm extremely interested in. Since it has to be an arguable topic it's kind of hard to come up with legit ideas related to skiing. My current idea is since freestyle skiing such a danger sport, is it worth the risk? I'm just curious to see if you guys have any good ideas or if you think I should just try to run with my current idea. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
