There's too many people in this thread who need to hit a blunt and go skiing. Drinking and smoking on the mountain are personal choice. I don't generally give a fuck if I see somebody else faded in the park. It's true that I rarely ski without being high as fuck or drunk but still. Most people in the hill don't seem to give a shit and if you're likely to get trucked by some fucked up bro in the park, chances are you shouldn't be in the park anyway.

As for helmets, I personally wear one. I feel safer with one and only stop using it if I want to film a trick I know I can stomp. I'll probably never invert without one because I'm not comfortable. The point is you aren't obligated to wear a helmet and nobody should give a fuck because of the fact that they are optional.

Also I'm defo trying to ski on shrooms this year at least once so I can't wait to hear about how stupid I am and how I'm ruining skiing for people who probably wont even be close to me on the hill

I personally think you guys are reading way too much into this. To me, "core" is just someone who shreds and has a love for the sport, doesn't matter if that person drinks/smokes/wears a helmet or is straight edge, both can be "core".

Just look at skateboarding. The skate scene is far more diverse than skiing and you'll find "core" pros from all backgrounds and views, from Lizard King to Christian Hosoi. This association with "core" and drinking/smoking/whatever makes no sense.

This. My Dad always used to tell me stories about settling school issues by fighting. Now you even look at a kid the wrong way in school you get suspended. We were never allowed to play tackle football in school, I had to join the football team to do that. Hell on school trips we weren't even supposed to be hitting the park. My high school wouldn't even let us skate on school property in case somebody got hurt.

I imagine there's even parents out there who won't even let their kid get into the sport because they're too scared their child will get hurt.

The entire world needs to take a step back and look at how ridiculous things have become. At this rate bubble wrapping yourself fo avoid breaking shit will become mandatory in the park.

I think Doug mentioned everything you brought up in your post. He has his kid on skis while hes a toddler(or a bit older not sure on ur kids ages bishop) but by the time that his child is old enough to decide for theirself if they want to wear one or not..they'll be a strong enough skier and confident in their own abilities to make the choice of protecting their dome piece with a brain bucket.

But on topic... I wear a helmet because it makes me feel safe. I've never hit my head hard enough to break a helmet or anything like that but I also try and avoid hitting my head as much as possible. Seriously learn how to fall and keep your head from smacking the ground like a bobble head. idk I'm sick of dead horse topic. People are gonna do what they want regardless and nothings gonna change that. Ever. I guess with how many deaths we have had recently in skiing people are just looking out for their idols and role models. But coming off a 100' jump and landing on your head is probably gonna fuck you up helmet or no helmet. It just comes with the sport.

Might have something to do with the substantial number of people who have died skiing from hitting their head.
