What does 2L and 3L stand for?

What does it mean when jackets and pants are called something 2L or 3L

2 or 3 legumes it is a weight measurement.

2 layer or 3 layer. It is referring to the construction of the fabric. There is also 2.5L which is sort of in between. Google is your friend on this one.

Base layer/light down coat + 3L shell = WIN.

L means left or right. If you turn left twice youre facing backwards so if you ski switch alot get that. 3 lefts and youre 270ing sideways onto a rail so if you do that alot get 3L ;)
