alright, i've worked at some cool part time jobs while going to school, and some complete shit jobs. starbucks was the longest and it was pretty cool with the free coffee but dealing with pretentious girls who think starbucks is the only way to live their days gets old. right now i work at DSW (designer show warehouse). i thought it would be pretty cool, get discounts on vans, boots, and maybe meet or work with some cool people. first, i realized bow that i gave up my weekends to work at dsw (because i take 16 credits), and with that, gave up my days to sit my ass on my couch and watch some damn football. I wear one of the radios in my ear for communication at work, and one of my bosses constantly talks in the radio, you eventually tun the bitch off. and lastly, today at work, i rarely helped any guys in the store because no guys came in the store today. so instead of watching football, drinking a cold beer, eating some bomb ass wings...i ended up helping women find the right pair of heels. fuck.

Can't even imagine. For me, after school and getting a job where I can wake up at anytime and be truly happy about going to work, and being around cool ass people, it won't matter how much I'll make. Just to know that I have a job I love.

Wait until you mature a little and see if you still hold that view. I felt that way and then as I got older started to realize how expensive everything is. That is when I had my epiphany, I am not working for myself but rather for the future of my potential kids.

I mean that's a good goal, but in the efforts of staying realistic I would suggest being open to work a shitty job to keep the $ flowing in while proactively looking for better employment.

You don't have to work the job you have forever, but it's nice to have a steady income while you're searching for the next step.


Hopefully you find something you love and pays the bills. Definitely a worthwhile pursuit.

Don't get me wrong I love my job but there are thing I enjoy doing that arent working that I just dont have time for. I can't ride my bike as much as I'd like to can't spend as much time with my wife and dog, can't sit and veg out as much as I'd like to.

My point is there is always going to be something in life to complain about. I'm not going to be that guy to tell you that you're living the best years of your life right now because I don't believe in that sort of thing.

Instead don't think about how much better your life is going to be when you get to the next step because there is always a next step. just enjoy where you're at and earn it while you're there.

One of the best things I've read on here in a bit. Truth. It's sometimes far too easy to get so caught up in the future or the past that we don't go all in on the present.

Agreed my friend. Again, I'm not on here "whining". It's more about looking at the situation in a sarcastic manner. I think it's kinda of funny and at the end of the day, I go home laughing. I've held my share of shittier jobs. Being in the marines was terrible and full of unhappiness, and in the end, that's what drive me to pursue a career that doesn't just pay well, but surrounded by amazing people that share the same interests. If I could work with people that have the same love for skiing, skateboarding, surfing and all keeping with the good vibes, I know I've found my future.

Life it too short to not do something you love. Gotta get out there an make those dreams come true. Do what you live, and spread the passion with others.

Good luck man. I found a job I love. I not always happy, I'm not always stoked to go into work, but it I didn't need to work a job, if the job paid nothing, and maybe even if I paid to do the job, I'd still do it.

Everyone's different, their interests are different, but I def believe if you keep your eyes open, you're a little creative, and maybe a bit lucky, you can find your niche in life and make a living(even a modest one) from it.
