Recommend some good flannels

I'm looking for some good flannels to use for active stuff, i like button up shirts for mtn biking in fall/winter. but almost everything ive used sucks at moisture wicking and is usually a little too hot. any recommendations for a light or medium weight, active oriented flannel/button up?

you want flannels to wear when youre doing stuff that involves sweating? you understand that's completely opposite of the purpose of flannels

The point of flannels is to keep you warm, not make a fashion statement.

You can get thinner material stuff or even just get plaid/flannel type fabric that's just the look but still very light.

I would just wear a tshirt until it's cold enough to bust out the flannels or hoodies, but I'm weird I guess.

Check your local thrift stores. Could find some stuff for dirt cheap in good shape. Then if you lose it, tear it, decide you hate it you paid like .50 for it.

It doesn't sound like you're looking for flannel, you're looking for 'technical outdoorswear' (I just made that up, but it seems to fit). Any outdoorsy brand would probably have what you're looking for. I have a thin LL Bean button up that I love for hiking, outdoorsy stuff, etc. It was surprisingly wearable a few weekends ago hiking in 75-80 degree sunshine when I forgot my sunscreen. I could get you the product name if you want, but I assume it wouldn't be hard to find similar items from Bean/Land's End/Patagucci/etc.

I have more luck with something like the jersey/long sleeve that POC makes. It's moisture wicking and all, but it's unusually thick material so it's pretty warm, comfy, and durable. It's kind of expensive if you can't find them on proform or sale, but it's not just a simple long sleeve like the pictures might suggest.

carhartt all the way, that or anything you may consider hick or below you is definitely probably as good. but if you want a nice flannel that'll keep u warm in the winter carhartt.

TNF makes some stuff that I think you're looking for kinda expensive but pay for what you get I guess. Also check orage and then for more basic flannel (not technical) LL Bean has great one for relatively cheap, eddie bauer also follows that trend

i swear by anything Woolrich. their collars get fucked up if you don't take care if them, but if you do the material lasts forever. same with LL Bean. i have two or three flannels that are around nine years old and they still are the best flannels i own to this day.

If your going to spend any sort of large amounts of cash (which you shouldn't) on flannel it's gotta be Filson or Woolrich. Also I expect you to be able to repair small engines, be able to fell trees, and be able to navigate in the bush using only compass and map.

If not then your not worthy of rocking a flannel anyways so just go buy a hoodie or something.

A flannel doesn't have to be cotton to be flannel. Wool is the way to go if you want something that breaths and wicks. I have some old Pendleton shirts that I inherited and they are still going strong after decades of use. If you can't find one second hand sometimes I see the board shirt for a big discount on sites like STP. Still expensive on discount but it will last.
