Hey NS, so I'm hoping I can get a little help from you guys. So I recently purchased some skis with bindings from BBQKittenWings. We had talked for a while about me buying them, and after a couple months I finally decided to do it. We agreed on $350 plus shipping.

The day before he sent them out he calculated the estimated shipping online. It was super expensive $106. He then also upcharged me because of paypal charges, but I said I'd pay it, I had come this far so I wanted to get them regardless, I told him to let me know how much shipping actually costed once he shipped them out, I did this hoping he would be willing to send me back at least part of the difference in price from his estimation.


After being ignored for a while on facebook, I got his phone number and started texting him.

Finally he responded, but completely dodged the question of the money.

I have now recieved the skis, but I am short about $90 that I think I should get back. Please let me know if you think I'm being ridiculous with my request. If anyone can help me please let me know, if you know him maybe say something if you'd be so kind.

Since you turned 18? huh cuz even I work as a supervisor at a grocery store and make $9.85/hour, so what this is making me think is that Daddy got you a nice paying job so you can feel like a big boy. Most people in the real world don't make $58 in three hours, so congrats to you CaliforniaGrown for sounding like a prick!

You still only work at a grocery store... Get an education or find work in the trades and you'll make more than $10/hr.

I don't agree with ruining his life, (but he should be exiled from BST), but 58$ isn't pocket change to most of the members on here.

youre right, it would have taken 3.2 hours to make that money working the job i had from 18-21. And no family or friends were involved in me finding and landing that job. i appreciate your concern for my upbringing though :)

You sound very bitter and full of blame. maybe if you were a good bit smarter you could have figured out a better paying job for yourself. Or maybe you chose a lower paying job in exchange for a better schedule or more fun work atmosphere? either way, its your own doing.

I'm curious to hear what California Grown does for work. But the "California" part makes me just think he's in a state where wages are pretty high from the get-go. Property is expensive, taxes are expensive, food is expensive and wages are pretty high to compensate.

Arby's probably pays $15 an hour in most developed parts of Cali, but maybe California Grown is a 16-year old investment banker or something.

Either way, $58 is $58. I'm on the side of Mr. Mittens on this one because it seems like the right way to go about it, but even if they were totally being dicks to each other you figure they could split and go $29 a piece.

Currently i am a Professional Civil Engineer living in washington state. The job i was referring to was ticket sales with the Stanford athletic department.


Not doing the right thing is not the same as stealing from someone. they agreed on a price of $450. shipping turned out to be much cheaper than expected. The seller could have refunded the difference but was under absolutely no obligation to do so. NS is supposed to be a community where good deals get passed along and members hook other members up... unfortunately there are people using NS just to flip product and make a buck. Not illegal, but certainly a little shady.

The real question is why is shipping so fucking expensive. And this is the reason why I use eBay when selling things to ns. Just create a private sale and link them and bam problem solved. Still a shitty thing to do.

Seriously. No offense to OP, but I would never pay more than $20-30 for shipping and never have.


But screw all of you who think OP should work it off. I'm sure all of us could make $60 in a day. But $60 is still $60. Especially for college/high school kids. BBQ whatever should be a man. Maybe for all of you who think $60 is pocket change should just give your money that you make in one day to OP.

the obvious "kid" that jerked this guy is a real piece of shit. He thinks its funny cause no one can do anything about it but im hoping Karma bends you over soon. Some people just dont have a problem going through life as a scumbag.

I wouldnt do this to anyone let alone someone that shares a passion like skiing with me.

Obviously his life will not be ruined, but it's still stupid. Maybe it's just me, but I hate the idea of internet/mob justice which generally seems to overreact to everything.
