_Fluffy_That's the same argument that homophobes use. The minority will always have to speak up.
Some of the most ignorant, close minded, and mentally weak people I know are hunters that pride themselves on being able to shoot an animal with a gun at distance. It takes no physical abilities to sit in a blind and wait for an animal to walk by.
Real men stand up for what is right, Even if the truth is hard to accept.
Mike Tyson is a vegan.
-Wiese-Do you even have the slightest idea of what hunting involves? I'd like to see some random that's never in his/her life hunted for their own food, hunting requires knowledge about the animal, physical strength beyond lifting some quinoa-soy milkshake bullshit off the shelf and putting it into your cart, as well as general hunting skill. People should pride themselves over getting off their asses, and getting their own food, hunting provides healthy, safe and economically friendly food, all while maintaining a balance in the given ecosystems

ThaLoraxAlthough I agree that hunting is good, and necessary for keeping populations in check, most (not all) hunters I know are fat lazy rednecks who spit chew and drink bud light while using their beer gut as a cup holder. I'd rather hang out with a quinoa-soy milkshake drinker than a fat lazy redneck any day.
RusticlesMeat is far too tasty to give up.

.MASSHOLE.What happens when we run out of privately and organically grown beef? Do we just stop eating it? YES
What about the people who cannot afford it? Do they not get beef?
This is like the GMO debate. If we want to feed a country, hell, the world, we need to perhaps do some "unethical" things when it comes to growing/producing enough food to eat.
B1tchI don't care about the "ethics" of killing a cow. The problem is sustainability.
Btw beef is expensive and if you are poor you shouldnt buy it.
Btw all the land we use to grow food for cows can be used to grow food for humans.
you don't need beef to survive and chicken is cheaper so what are you talking about?
.MASSHOLE.Sustainability is certainly a huge issue. But changing over to chicken yields similar issues minus the methane because it too, is very hard on the environment/creates MANY more ethical issues and high costs that are unsustainable for farmers if they move towards ethical methods. Same goes for salmon farming or any other viable protein option.

B1tchIt's a problem no one has an answer to because even the smartest of hippies realize how impossible it is to get everyone to not eat meat Beef is by far the worst When it comes to sustainability. Chickens can be sustainably raised to lay a steady supply of eggs, their shit adds nutrients to the soil and they are way more cost effective to butcher. we just have to stay away from commercial farms.
YoungGun.Water can not be created nor destroyed. It goes back into the earth and recycles itself.
I bet you also drive a prius and don't drink alcohol because it "poisonous for the soul" or some shit. I'm a man and I will eat man food.
Have you had bacon wrapped tenderloin?
.MASSHOLE.Unfortunately, commercial farms are a necessity. Economies of scale are quite prevalent in the farming industry, and without commercial farms, it would be almost impossible for non-commercial farmers and consumers to hold each other up without falling. Almost all small farmers are running in the red, even with all the subsidies and assistance they receive. Without commercial farms obviously they could raise prices for their chicken, but to what extent? Can they make it out of the red? You are also now depending on them to be able to produce enough chicken at a reasonable price.
B1tchim from southern Idaho which is one of the larger farming communities in the nation. Commercial farms are a necessity given the current system. we will always need large commercial distribution but raising the animals in many smaller scale operations is 100% feasible. We don't need large "unethical" commercial farms, we do need large commercial distribution.
Does it not strike you as odd that all the farmers are struggling but the companies they sell their products are not? The profit that could be going to the hard working farmer is in the pockets of sleazy marketing executives who are trying to sell more sugar.
The money is there it's just not distributed appropriately.
Imagine a large system of small farms connected to large distribution companies. This would ensure easier quality control and less waste.
honestly not trying to offend you but you seem like a no man. You offer no solutions.
Its will always be cheaper and more efficient to feed 100,000 people compared to trying to feed 100,000,000. The further food is transported the more it costs.
the plant kingdom has everything a human needs to thrive.
Cricket Bars taste great.
it's actually necessary to change the way we distribute food if we want to continue to inhabit this earth.
when cities start going underwater you'll be thinking twice about the importance of methane.
.MASSHOLE.It is feasible in terms of production if you accept GMOs (which for some reason people still do not), but it is not feasible in terms of economics. These large distribution companies will always hold the pricing power because their reach is x10000 greater than the farmers. Sure, the farmers could try to by-pass them, but it is not economically feasible to travel from Idaho to NYC to sell products. So, instead, they need these distribution companies who can say we will buy X chickens for $Y dollars and give you %40 because we need to pay our drivers, storage facilities, administrative people, etc.
To give you a nice parallel, look at the coffee industry. Thousands of small scale farmers competing against large commercial production entities. Except they found a solution that fit their industry. Their best way to combat these groups is living side-by-side, but selling their products to a different group.
That is a solution right there, it may be the best that will occur. You will have individuals selling to specialized commercial groups, individuals organizing as co-ops that sell directly to specialized retailers, and you will have commercial entities that have massive mega-farms that try to sell to the mass market.
You will not get individual farmers who can control the entire market. They will get priced out.
Mother Nature was never meant to provide for 6+ billion people. We would destroy the earth if we were to eat only what she provided naturally.
B1tchRequire each state to feed itself
.MASSHOLE.Impossible. Seriously impossible. You will require massive deforestation in many population-dense states (VT, NY, NH, ME, MA, CT, etc) while others do not have the climate for it (Florida, Texas, California during drought years, Utah, etc.).
CARTMANBRUHShe's 104 pounds
Barry.McCockinerEither your girlfriend is 4'8 or she's a stick
B1tchno
Barry.McCockinerSo then your blow up doll must be filled with rocks or something because there is no way a girl can weigh 104 pounds and not be super skinny. That was my weight in 6th grade.
