Who cares if older people are ridin twins? As long as they are supporting the ski industry does it really matter what they have on their feet? Judging by a recent topic on here most of the people on this forum are 13-17 years old. To some of these kids I am an old guy (I'm 22). Does it make you mad that some older peole can rip harder than u? Maybe thats why you are so disturbed by older people with twins.

i'm with Hart Ski on this one, a lot of times people will buy stuff because the people at the shop will tell them it's really good. mainly i see old guys on either gotamas or pocket rockets...i think they like twin tips for there general fatness....commpared to the 210cm skis they rocked back in the day.

I don't mind old people buying twins from a business perspective...I just wonder why they chose a twin. For skiers who suck (maybe like the guy on the lift--we don't know how good he is)a twin offers no advantages.

Also: why do you need twins if you don't plan on skiing backwards?

There are a lot of skis out there and twins are designed for US, not old timers. But it's a free country and capitalism reigns.

Most twins you see on older people are the all mountain twins. These models are good skis for the money. When an older skier comes into the shop they are looking for an all around ski for a decent price. To most it is not about the twin tip it is about a good all mountain ski for a decent price.

maybe a carver ski would be better for these people that still snowplow. when you look at most twin tips such as the public enemys it says they are designed for advanced skiers not beginners. im totally cool with people riding any ski they want as long as the ski corresponds to their ability level otherwise its bullshit, no one can argue with that. no one should ever buy an armada as a learning ski

this is interesting cause last weekend i was talking to some older guy on the chair who had just gotten a pair of scratches and i got some too and he asked me how i liked them. he's trying to learn some tricks so i was giving him tips on 3's and stuff. it's pretty cool that people out there no matter the age are getting into the newschool scene

I agree with Sid that a carver would be better and if the customer is not going to use the twin then I would try to stear the customer away from the twin. Also as long as people keep buying twins I am happy and if they are throwing down that is even better.

who the hell cares how does it affect you, dont be bitter just cause your parents dont love you and didnt buy you chronics, anyways a lot of the twins are real good for more than park, my friends dad has PE's cause they are a good all around ski for our mountain and my dad rocks the pocket rockets when the conditions are good enough, plus the more people who buy these skis the more money goes into the industry

First, as a so-called "older" skier who rides twins, let me say: get over yourself. Did it ever occur to you that the skis might be good somewhere other than the park?

For me, the key to twins is their versatility. I can CHOOSE to go into the park, slide rails, ski switch, hit jumps, pipe; or I can ski bumps, glades, groomers, powder, etc. They are the only true all-mountain board, IMO. Most, also happen to be great learning tools with their softer flex and forgiving ride - this was an unforeseen side-benefit; Just like Pfizer's recipe for heart problems and angina: Sildenafil citrate (aka Viagra).

You shouldn't let the opinion of a few snot-nosed snowboarders affect you so much. In a few years it won't - believe me. At the same time, try not to see twintips so one-dimensionally (even those of the so-called "core" companies). One day, you too will have a job and be able to afford whatever topsheet graphic turns your crank.

ever notice how almost everybody who rides a snowboard, no matter how terrible they are, rides a twin-tip / freestyle oriented snowboard, and not a flat back 'carving' board? does this bother you guys too? what if they never ride switch? end of the world? no.
So you see how this translates to skiing? Pretty soon everybody will be on twins, and you won't get to feel so special anymore, but it will be better for the sport, so put a smile on and deal with it.

hey I have a friend that has twins and he and I have a great time, and he's 45 or so and he want to get me some new skis next week, so they aren't all that bad...

31 and will never go back to regular skis except for my heli rock boards.

been on twins since i was 25 years old I think. first pair were the elan air twists.

Twins are more fun they allow you to due more. ride switch or even shimmy back and forth into tight spaces.
