Again, it depends on what you need. Gh4 is weather sealed, has a bigger lcd, and I believe you can still overcrank better on the gh4. It would also depend on what you're used to, if you had a Panasonic before and were invested in lenses for that system it would be smarter to continue using that system if you can get away with it (good enough quality). Don't get me wrong though, I love the fs and the a7 series but some people prefer other choices

A7 series is weather proofed... I see your point but if he has no past experience a7s over G4 any day

I would pay the extra money to have ND filters and XLR inputs built into the camera. 4K is nice to have, but depending on what you are shooting you might not need to record in 4K. It may be a better idea to rent a recorder when you need to shoot 4K imagery. Use any extra money to invest into other equipment like lenses, audio, lighting, and storage space.

both have a 3" LCD, A7Sii is higher res
A7Sii has 1080/120p vs the GH4 1080/96p which looks like ass IMO
plus the A7S is like night and day (no pun intended) in both low light and dynamic range compared to the gh4, A7Sii only improves on that and I doubt the gh5 will get anywhere close since they're stuck on m4/3

hmmm it depends, I feel like the GH5 when it does come out will be a different beast than the a7s/a7sii. For ex. what if it has 4k in 60 or internal raw or something like that? I'm sure they realize their competition by now and as you say they're limited by the 4/3rd sensor they will probably bring something else to the table that makes it a different camera utility wise (like blackmagic's been doing with the m4/3rds sensors) than the a7s/r/ii

I said "in both low light and dynamic range", whether or not they come out with 4k/60p, raw, etc its still not going to touch the A7S(ii) in either of those categories unless they pull a miracle. 4K is cool and all but GH4 shots in anything but optimal light look unprofessional IMO. This past winter while editing from a pool of A7S, FS700 and GH4 footage from an indoor event with mood lighting I couldn't even really use most of the GH4 shots because the grain ruined them

dynamic range... with vlog to external you can already get supposedly 12 stops of DR, and if it does come out with raw then I'm sure it will be able to touch it in DR, I mean blackmagic's managed to do it in a sensor far smaller. And to be honest, it all depends on what you're doing with it/what counts as professional in your field. For ex, those blackmagic cams are even worse in low light, but many cinematographers still use them because of the lossless raw capabilities. My main point was addressing your speculation that the GH5 wouldn't come close to touching it, and my counterpoint is that they probably see the competition and would bring something different to the table (although ten bit raw would most likely come with bringing about higher video dynamic range). I wouldn't count it out completely just because of the sensor size.
