Hello Ns, what is your opinion on film style
Lot of edits are filmed with the Steadicam ultra wide angle HD, yet lately groups like the bunch have been using cameras that look like classic VX1000 footage.

w_skierwhat I don't like is using slowmo in 85% of your edit, that doesn't somehow make it higher quality it makes it boring as fuck.
w_skierI like both, depends on the trick and whether its smooth or agressive

milk_man14k is the only way
.otto.I saw a youtube video posted by transworld snowboarding that had a 2160p video option
pretty far out
steezyjibberThat's 4K
.otto.Could my macbook even play that, or do you need a special monitor to see the full effects ?

You need at least a 4k screen to view 4k in full definition. Derp.
No, your MacBook does not have a 4k screen.
.otto.Its fairly new technology so i didnt know
thanks
WVskiingYeah, like Burn, 4bi9s latest movie. I had a 3 hour plane ride and had to shut it off cause It was so damn boring
steves_nutsfuck the bunch they are shit skiers anyway i rather look at them in shit qual doing a shit trick like a hand drag anyway
kfed_bong_ripwhat is everyone talking about "old school style skateboard fisheye filming"??? its not fucking old school, thats how you use a goddamn fisheye!!!! its only considered "old school" because every who wants to film skiing just throws their DSLR on top of a glidecam with an 11-16 wide angle and never even bothered learning how to use a fisheye. smh @ all yall.
kylemcleanIt's more than just a fisheye. They shoot the video in either shitty quality or add effects in post to make it seem like it was filmed in 2002. Also there is more than one way to use a fisheye and the "old school" filmers shoot it like a skate edit. There are people that shoot a fisheye on a glidecam in 1080p but that doesn't mean they don't know how to use a fisheye.
kfed_bong_riphaha thats exactly what it means. if you know how to use a fisheye why the fuck would you put it on a glidecam?

kylemcleanSomething similar to the first few shots in this could be shot on a DSLR on a glidecam. It doesn't mean its the wrong way to use a fisheye

kfed_bong_ripi mean if you really wanna use a glidecam whatever but i just dont understand it. why are glidecams so much bigger in skiing than they are in snowboarding or skateboarding? can skiers just not hold a camera steady without a big ol' stabilization rig?
K-Dot.Because the footage looks nicer..?
I'm not sure why you're hating on people for actually giving a shit about how they decide to shoot. Shaky edits with no stabilization suck. Not saying that you need a glidecam to make a decent edit, but going the extra mile does't hurt.
Some us aren't hip enough to endure shaky fisheye shots that detract from the skiing..
hanksySkate filmers use 'filmer boards' with extra soft and huge wheels and big decks. Every single filmer does this when filming lines. It's hardly different than a skier using a glidecam when following their buddy off of a booter or down a run, which is a lot more turbulent than skating behind someone on flat concrete.
I much prefer HD but I fully understand shooting VX1, it does preserve a certain vibe.
JohnCenaCenaHVX is what I was thinking of when I meant combo of both. It's VX without the dog shit quality. They're super expensive though.
