Poles or no poles?

I know this a topic that gets tossed around a lot on NS but you guys are the only people i could come to with this. I just moved to SLC and will be skiing at PCMR this winter. Im a jump oriented skier and am looking for ways to clean up my style, grab my skis a little better and just kinda ski a different way, so let me know what you think guys.

It's a personal choice. I tried no poles last year, and I just wasted my season trying to be Kieran McVeigh(I failed miserably and had a cringeworthy style). I discovered that the no poles look isn't for me. It's something you'll have to discover yourself.

If your going off jumps alot I would recommend no poles caz it would be much easier to grab without the poles being in your way. Last season i tried using no poles and it was really weird the first couples times, but after a while I got the hang of it and have no problem.

Do whatever looks better and if you have a rope at your hill, which you don't, I'd recommend no poles for the convenience

It's all preference. I stopped using poles in the park because it's one less thing for me to focus on and makes learning tricks easier.

The first season that I started doing flips in the park I didn't use poles much, but I now always use them. Especially when skiing out of the park, one should use them.

I like poles but no poles can be fun if there isn't a park and know there isn't anything to hit ill go no poles depends where I'm at .

It really depends. If you're a park rat and you barely go anywhere else besides it, or you live in Minnesota or something and have a million rope tows, then I would go no poles. But if you ski a lot of park but like to get out to the rest of the mountain, then I would go with poles, especially if you go into the powder or moguls. It's also personal preference, because I used to use poles all the time, and this season I didn't use them very much at all, I don't really know why either. We didn't have very many powder days out in Colorado this season, but my poles are so long that they look stupid in park though, so I never really use them. I did feel like having no poles was kinda one less thing to focus on, which was nice, but if I get a pair that doesn't look dumb, then I'll probably start using them this season again, because I'll probably be outside the park a little more this season. It all depends on what feels natural to you though.

Did you tried Line poles ?

They are really for grabs, they got this little tongue on the top of the handle, whiche allows you to grab with 3 or 4 fingers.

They really helps me on grabs.
I'm not saying they're perfect, you have the right not enjoy them.

I tried using poles but one flew out of my hand when going for a grab and hit some 10 year old girl. No poles is the way to go!

It depends on how you ski dude. I ski poles in the park when I'm focusing on getting new tricks, getting technical on rails, and just generally when I'm in a more "hucking" mood.
I ski no poles when I just wanna cruise, butter around and do some laid off tricks like lazys, stuff with tweaked safety or shit. Recently I've been doing more no poles but mostly because it was slush time and slush=baggy af no poles and steaze out. at least for me.

I just love not using poles because it looks so steezy when you get those sick grabs in the park... When I ski race it is regulation that you start in the start house with poles but once you are out of the start house you are allowed to throw your poles to the side, so that is what I do and I look like a boss ski racer with now poles... Lol

Landing switch without poles feels way nicer and makes grabs considerably easier. However, many people tend to flail more than usual when they don't use poles. Skiing with poles will significantly reduce flailing so that's something to consider.

No poles for life. I find it more fun and easier to grab. I especially enjoy it in pow or slush because it makes it feel even more like surfing the mountain. Plus it looks steezy like trash party

i usually dont use poles and there are times i feel i ski better when im using poles, like almost for balance on rails.

line poles are great if you want to grab but you still want to use poles they have a 5 finger grab tab that keeps the poles in your hand during grabs they work great

No poles... if I'm anywhere in the park, that is. Woods and powder definitely require some poles. But when I hit huge jumps, poles just throw off my balance and make it much harder to grab.

You're gonna look goofy af at first but you gotta go with it. Really a personal thing though. Most of my buddies never ski without poles.

I was too poor to afford poles almost all season last winter, but near the end i got a pair, and gotta say def poles, with poles is so much better in every way. I ride PC as well hmu!
