Editing troubles and Annoyances

Ever spend alot of time for an edit and not have it turn out how you want it? Most times I film I get alot of good angles and shots but in post no matter how much time I spend on an edit I never feel totally satisfied....I am an amateur filmier and editor but I find it easy when filming but a challenge to edit something good enough for the shots!! Anybody else have these problems? I use Sony Vegas.
