Armada AR5s vs. Line Chronics

I know this topic has been discussed several times before, and I have read all the posts dealing with the two skis... but I still haven't been able to make up my mind so I'm going to be selfish and start my own thread.
I've been skiing since I was four, but I live in Southern California and only see the snow once or twice a year. Only recently have I started making more frequent trips to the slopes. That being said, I'm not all that good at skiing and really not too used to twin-tip skis (only used them once; atomic stomps). I've been experimenting in the parks with rental skis the past few times I've gone and I'm pretty interested in sticking with it even though I usually make myself look like a fucking moron. I'd say about I'm about 75% all-mountain and 25% park.
After reading a whole shitload of posts, I think I've narrowed down my selection to two skis... the Armada AR5s and the Line Chronics. I'm looking for a ski that will perform well in the park but will do equally well carving all over the mountain... powder really isn't all that important.
Here's my comparison so far...
Armada - AR5
-sorta soft
-chipping problems
-all mountain ski
-76mm waist
Line - Chronic
-stiff
-mainly park
-80mm waist
-light
Add stuff to it... change it... do whatever... just give me a better idea...
Thanks,
-Chris

Well I can only speak about the Chronics because I have them. I ski only in the east coast so majority of the time its pack powder/ice conditions. The Chronics are more than just park skis. They are very stable out of park and unlike my other skis, they don't chatter when going fast. They are stiff skis, so if you like to butter and stuff, its harder to do. But on the plus side its real stable on the landings. So if you get a chance demo them out and then you will know. Drop Line an email and ask if they will have a demo day near where your at.

I was in the same situation as you and i went with the Ar5's. They are really nice skis and are perfect in the park and ride the rest of the mountain well too. For you, you should also get the Ar5's in 176 or 180 (which both have an 80mm waist, also i am 5'10' and under 140 pounds and am on the 176) As for the other stuff you said about them, they have a somewhat soft nose, and a pretty stiff tail. The chipping problems from last year are pretty much solved and they are no worse than any other ski. And yes it is a great all mountain ski but it is agruably the best park ski out there. If you do go for the chronic definately get get the 177. O yea you also put the pricing of the reactors in there, dont get them (i thought about getting them too, but then say the light). Be like me and get the p12 jib.

hey man
im riding the 177 chrondawgs and so far am liking them pretty much everywhere.
but like mentioned abotve if you are a big fan of buttering and stuff like that then the chronics are not the ski.
i personally am finding them reallllllllly stiff compared to some skis i have skied in the past like TMs, however i have noticed a difference since i first started skiing them. and if you like industructable skis then the chronics are the way to go. im no pro but i like to think i beat my equip pretty good. and my chronics look like they are brand new with the exception of a little bit of like paint and smuges and crap from rails on the base. such a strong ski on rails.
and ya dont get the reacters. i mounted mine up with a p10 and thats all youll ever need.

AR5's are an awesome east coast ski..they rule the bumps..holy shit do these thing kill it in the bumps...i got to test them in some real bumps saturday and they hall ass and keep of track. They cut the ice and float pretty well in the pow..Sick in the trees..Huge pop off jumps and easy to spin with..STable at high speeds-no chatter and the top sheet problem is just with the 03/04 models not the 04/05..they arent that soft..stiff tail and soft nose..the chronics arent much stiffer at all...id reccommend the AR5s

^^^ thats the exact setup I just bought. 176's with p12 jibs. Can't wait to get these. Did you have to bend the brakes to fit? Or are they wide enough already?

Just my opinion, but since your 75% all mtn and 25% park, I would get something more of a lift than the jib bindings. I actually ended up getting p10 lifters (6mm lift) instead. Besides the P10 were on sale. My friend who has the troublemakes with the jib bindings actually boots out when carving hard. But that could probably be because he has kinda big feet, wide boots.
