So right now I am on some 170 Gotama which I bought last year, but I am selling those to a friend because they are way to short. I am looking at both the 186 Gotama and 186 One. I liked the Gotama because they were solid skis from their stiffness, held up well on hard pack, and floated well. The One's are a tad fatter which would be nice for the deepest days and the softer flex would let me be more playful on side hits of groomed trails and such. Btw I am an aggressive skier, 5'10'', 165lbs, and am in the east coast but planning to take these skis to college in Montana in two years.
disclosure: ive only skied gotamas years ago (but am about to buy another pair!) and have only hand flexed etc and heard reviews on the ONE. but in your case i would def say the gotama
the ONEs are definitely fatter and designed to be more pow oriented and maybe playful..they arent super soft, relatively speaking, but the amount of rocker is huuuge. seriously, when theyre base to base the bases stop touching like an inch in front of the binding nose piece IIRC. so that's def gonna make them feel softer and i really doubt that makes their on-piste performance too great. i dont see that being a ski you want to use on the east very much except on bomb days
i think the goats are a much better suit for you, esp since youll be east for another couple years. theyll do better on variable and hard stuff for sure, and theyll be FINE in deep stuff when you have it
