Best Place for January Skiing

I am going on a weekend ski trip with my dad and we want to go somewhere that will hopefully get some fresh snow while we are there in late January. Don't really care about park just want cool terrain and hopefully good snow.

Oh! Aside from the fact that Japan and Europe is really a great place to enjoy powder. US and Canada has also a lot of great ski destinations that you should never miss. You gotta check this out Ski Vacation Destinations

Niseko has gotten overwhelmingly positive feedback on their backcountry and pow skiing off piste, that's probably where I'd be heading if I were in Japan but it all depends on what you want to ski (powder, trails, park, etc.)

Jackson or Targhee. Both normally do well around that time and given that you are in MN you could probably drive there.

Just expect it to be pretty cold.

Alta, best non park skiing day of my life, mix between snow and sun that day and it was mint. Just wish I wasnt using my ar7s....

Minnesota is probably colder haha. I live in MN as well and went skiing when it was -33F one day. Wore 3 layers and was fine, Im sure he'll be fine

Yeah I've been out on some pretty cold days. It's nice to get the whole place to yourself every now and then.

when its a 300ft hill it doesn't really matter if its busy. More people = good vibes, less people = dink around on the features

mt baker is not a resort destination and received < 100'' of snow last year. dont come to washington, its not pretty here right now

For snow I'd say probably Colorado or Utah. The northwest areas like Oregon and British Columbia are looking like another dry winter, and there's been mixed predictions about Northern California. So cal, Colorado and Utah are looking like average to above average for winter 2015-16
