This should dip your brain in liquid nitrogen and hit it with a hammer-
I want you to think about what is theoretically possible, and forget about practicality for the sake of this thought experiment.
Imagine in the far future, in a time of almost limitless technological advances that we can use microscopic machines deployed throughout your body to record the locations of every molecule, cell, and neuron in your body.
Imagine that in this age of technology we can also use tiny machines to rebuild a person that is now dead, molecule for molecule, to exact precision so that there is no difference between the now deceased person and his/her cloned copy. This "clone" would be exactly the same as you were in life- it would have the same memories, inclinations, emotional attachments...
You may say that this is a different person because it is made of different molecules, but mind you, the living body of a human replaces all its molecules every 10 years, even though the structure and functioning of cells remains the same.
Here is the question- suppose after you are dead, this copy of you that has been made is told to wake up. DO YOU WAKE UP? ARE YOU LITERALLY REINCARNATED? Or is it a different person waking up and why?
I am inclined to say that you do wake up, because for all intensive purposes, it is really is "you" just recreated to exact specifications. So you could think of death as simply a period of fime that everybody must wait until they are reincarnated. I think this thought experiment gives a strong argument for the concept of reincarnation, because while we are all different, in many ways we are the same and we often experience the exact same thoughts and emotions. So it is hard to say if we were here in a previous life but we just cant remember it... But its also hard to disprove as well.
Remember that this could be you- what if i told you that the real "you" had actually died and you were an exact reincarnation of the former "you"? Would you believe it? What do you think?
Also, for those inclined to say its a different person bc it is different molecules, remember that every 7 years ur body completely replaces every molecule with a new one absorbed from food ect. So technically we are already reincarnations of our former selves. Yet do we not feel authentic and the same?
When i die i will take solace in the fact that far in the future an alien could feasibly choose to bring me back to life.
So when im dead i am really just waiting to wake up again......
