I'm 16 in grade 11, this is my second job my first job was a delivery boy I'm looking to be a cashier or server. I'm wondering hows the life of a cashier or server? How long is the training? So basically if you're first job was being a cashier or server how was it like was it hard and scary at first?

every new job is scary at first, but its not rocket science youll get over it in a week or two.

I was a server for awhile but I switched to cook/prep. Servers have it rough sometimes because they depend on tips for most of their money. If it is a slow day, they might walk out of the restraunt with $15. But when people are leaving nice tips and it's fairly busy, you will make great money.

Don't piss off the cooks, make sure your orders are written correctly, and you should be golden.

At least where I live you can't be a server untill 18. But it's a bit of a double edged sword. The job itself sucks...get yelled at and have to smile at dicks. But you do get some awesome tables and can meet some really cool people. Plus the $$$ is super good.

Cashiering is super easy. There's like a day or two of training. Set wage is nice unlike working for tips. However you can rack up lots of tips waiting tables. Cashiering can be kinda boring though. It's what I did and I'm glad I never waited tables. You deal with less grumps too.

If you only ever work as a cashier

It's easy. Any job you can get at 16 is an easy job, it just depends on your motivation to do that job.

I was a cashier for like a year before I got a different job. Not stressful or difficult at all after the first few weeks. Like someone else said, it gets extremely boring and repetitive pretty quickly.

Don't sweat it. It's actually not bad aside from the occasional rude guests and non tipper. Usually you'll have a cool management team and other service members. Take criticism when it's due, but don't let those few rude guests treat you like shit. Brush it off. I'll keep my fingers crossed you're the next one of those servers you heard about on the news who got a $1000 tip on a $100 meal.
