Earl_GlobzYee! Git it!
There are some things that make a handrail venture a lot easier. doop a bap boop blap compute!
SHOVELS
-flat and spade -Super important for parking lots!
-snowscoop with shovel handle. Good for pounding lips. nya nya.
-big snowscoop(like the ones lifties use) -super super key. this cuts setup time in half, especially with big lips and landings. try to get a plastic one with a removable handle as they're pretty big.
-SHRAKE! Invest in a spt shrake, they are worth it. Or try your hand at some slight metal fab and welding.(easier than you think) Shrakes are crucial for Lips. You will understand when you see the difference between a lip you can build with a shrake vs reggae shovels. bo!
WATER
-Lots of it! you can use water for lips, snow on ledges, in runs, peeps bellies, the list goes on!
-Dont just pour it though, sip it and spray that shit! pbbbbbpbpbbttttt. Its more gangsta that way. No but seriously you want an even coating so your lips can set. I suppose you could use a spray bottle with a pump, but its just less gangsta.
GENNIES! (car lights get old)
-you need a generator to run lights. Construction lights are great. they hold up in super cold weather
-Also, if you've already welded up a shrake, try making a winch! (also easier than you think)
-Gas powered always works best. electric ones can tend to fail in the cold.
Boost Boost!
theres a bunch of methods to get speed:
-Car tow-ins with ratchet straps or rope
-The ol' one two pull! great booster of kinship and way sketchy takeoffs. Sometimes you don't have the run up you need for a great hit, so you need great friends to pull ya into uncertainty!
-Drop ins -wood, ladders, whatever, get creative! The easiest way is to build one off of your car roof, plus, theres nothing quite like the view of a handrail from the top of your car roof drop in. However, speed is also sometimes tough to obtain, which can lead to sketchy uncertainty.
-Bungee -super fun, Effective for speed control, cheaper than winches, sooooouper sketchy. I've seen some bungees do some wild shit. like wrapping around a kids leg and sending him head over heels down the handrail on the recoil. I've had one whip back and hit me in the face. Iv'e also seen it whip ONTO the attempted handrail and flip a kid over when they hit it on the rail. These things can fuck you up! That being said they are really fun! Its a comical scene, standing there, having friends run it up to you (exhausting after a while) and then yoink! off you go!
-Winch In my personal opinion, winches are the best. You can get a winch with as long of a rope you want, for as big of a hit as you want, or to get the perfect amount of speed you want, as long as you have the run up for it. Plus it just feels great flying in on a winch it gets you pumped. You can buy a winch online marketed for jibbin. Im sure they work really nice. But they is pricy! You can totally rig one up with a genny. But you will need to build a larger housing for it, this is what requires some welding.
This all seems like a lot, but after years of filming, you will see its worth it. Plus, minus the genny, Its just a couple hundred bucks. Find friends that share your passion, handrail manifest!
