Define: SKI BUM

I will try to help with this as I consider I spend the last two years of my life being a ski bum. I would say it involves moving to a ski town, doesn't have to out west or someplace huge, just in a place that has skiing. I would say it also involves working whatever type of job you can do so that you can ski everyday. I worked in a shop and got a two hour ski break everyday. Along with that, you probably have no money so living with a bunch of people in a tiny/shitty place is probably a must. Most importantly I think you surround yourself with other people that are also trying to be in the mountains everyday and just ski.

Someone who would be content living with a pair of skis, boots, and a sleeping bag. But also anyone who sees skiing not as a pass time, or a hobby, but skis cause it is there passion. they love the atmosphere and being around other skiers who share the love for shred.

Some one who does whatever it takes to go skiing as much as possible and everything they do revolves around working towards more skiing

Super wealthy people can ski all they like, but a ski bum is someone who sacrifices having a "real" job in lew of seasonal work so they may ski all winter. Not all, but most are poor because it's hard to make a lot of money with just seasonal work. Ski bums live very frugally because they have to in order to survive. They are not trust fund people, or people with tons of money. They are people who don't think about what they are going to do when they get old and can't work or ski anymore. They may or may not have a retirement plan. Some may hope to get a large inheritance in their older years to finish their lives, but until then they put a priority on skiing and not on making a ton of money. They make HUGE sacrifices to ski compared to a wealthy person.

I hope that helps. Just because some dudes ski all winter does not make them a ski bum because they are well to do retired people whether old or young.

Work all summer ski all winter. Thats really it I think. If you work during the winter, you're not a skibum, but a seasonaire. Not necessarily worse in any way.
