Mormon population at U of Utah

So, I am beginning my college search, and considering University of Utah to be one of my top picks because of the location/proximity to PC.

My question is, is there a really heavy Mormon population at the school? As in is it overbearingly mormon? nothing against mormons just not exactly what i'm looking for. Thanks.

Not at all OP. I went to the U 07-11 and sure you have some mormon classmates, but in general they are the nicest people around and don't push their religion on you. You also need to remember there will be about 1000 other kids just like you coming from out of state, a majority of them there to ski. SLC in general is becoming much less populated by mormons every year, the downtown/sugarhouse/aves/university section of the city is probably < 20% mormon. As you go south/north from the city that number increases, but you won't be spending your time around there. PC is virtually 0 mormons, but 90% retard tourists.

Why does it matter? Like why would someone's religious believes be a big deal? The school isn't a religious school and most people aren't gonna bother you with their beliefs.

The people at my school are overwhelmingly atheist and/or Jewish. Neither of which I believe in and that has had honestly 0 affect on the school.

I think most people are concerned about Mormonism because they and Jehovah's witnesses seem to have more aggressive missionary systems compared to most other religions(in my experience).

I've never had an Atheist or Jew knock on my door trying to change my ideals.

Ahh. I see. That's understandable. There's not a lot of Mormons in my area so I guess I don't really understand the concern. From what I have heard the U of U is a cool school and if OP wants to go there I just think it's silly to be deterred because of others beliefs. Especially since it's not a religious school.

Mormons are much different than any other religion, their beliefs and day to day lives are so much different than say a normal christian/jewish/whatever person.

Utah sucks. Why would anyone want to live here and ski pow all winter, ride your bike in the summer, and have fun every day?

There are a lot of Mormons, yes. But there are also a lot of skiers. Youll definitely see the religion around you but it's easy to ignore. I've lived in slc for 8 years and went to the U and can honestly say I've never felt the Mormon influence was problematic enough to be a reason not to live here. (Provo/BYU is a different story though ha.) I've found the few things caused by the Mormon influence that ARE mildly annoying are:
- last call at utah bars is 1 am (early)
-cant buy booze at grocery store except beer
-gas station beers are 3.2% abv
-lots of places are closed on Sundays because church
-technically the U is a dry campus (that said I did my fair share of drinking in the dorms)

All pretty minor stuff in my opinion, especially when you consider the major benefits of living in Salt Lake. I mean you can easily ski every single day here if you plan your schedule right!
