Montana Trip

Hey all,

Its about that time of year again where I am trying to decide where I want to go. I was in Jackson Hole last year and loved it, but have never been to Montana.

I am definitely thinking of coming to Bozeman a couple days after new years and staying for a week.

My question.....is it worth it to make a trip out to any of the other mountains? Whitefish is out of the picture, but I am thinking about Moonlight and Bridger Bowl. I would be most likely skiing 4 days maybe 5 max. Also, what does everyone recommend for accommodations close to the Big Sky ski area?

Moonlight is part of Big Sky so you can go to both with your day pass to Big Sky. Cheapest place to stay would be in Bozeman but there are some decently priced hotels around Big Sky too. I would venture up to Bridger for a day if I were you, but only if you have avy gear. Then spend the rest of the days at Big Sky. There is so much terrain that you can ski new stuff every day.

certainly shred bridger for at least a day and cheapest accommodations are couches so let me know or find a friend people here are always willing to let someone post up on a couch for a few days

how is big sky late march/early april? have an opportunity to hop in with some buddies at a house.

Better than January. Early season snowpack (which I would argue extends until march most years) in Montana is pretty shitty. The dry continental snow doesnt stick to anything so shit will either not be open or be rocky as hell. Fun skiing starts in march most years consistently. I'm not saying you cant have epic december or january days, but the average day in march is much better.

Plus they dont blow snow in the parks here too, so you have to wait until that stacks up. Parks here start out pretty small, and get progressively bigger and nicer once enough snow stacks up to finally dig in features.

I have a floor/couch in big sky, 10 min drive to the ski hill. Would highly recommend spending at least 2 days up here but check out Bridger as well.

Big sky's tight. If you see me around when yet around, holla. I ski icelantic nomads as my only ski haha.
