Just took a gander through the thread on packs and figure why not have on on Tent's and Bivy's
So, Tent I have the Marmot Limelight 2p 3 season tent. I have used it more in winter then summer and she does work in a pinch though is not really suited I'm just a dirtbag and I dragwhatever I have in the closet out into the mountains with me. Mad condensation on the inside of the tent in the winter, very little insulation, that said, for early season and super late season missions it is so waterproof rain can't fuck with it. literally set it up in basically a swamp with half inch deep streams running directly under it(had no other option was camping in a giant rainstorm in july) and it stayed completly dry inside! If some decent winds it has held up fine 2!
Second, MSR E-bivy, bought this little bad boy because of how light it was, thing basically packs to nothing.
Pros- Light, Cheap.
Cons- Breaths like a drowning victim, plastic lays against you face and is super uncomfortable and extra lame.
Works in a pinch if your going to be high up on a glacier just catching a few hours sleep before pushing onwards to zee great summit, if your anywhere below treeline leave it at home unless watching your sleeping bag soak through on day 2 of a 4 day traverse turns you on.
Just Grabbed a MHW EV2, Burly tent, haven't used it yet, should have some of the problems of the bivy sack but only planning on using this for big alpine days and setting up on a glacier for a few days where a bomb proof tent is definitely needed. Will get back to the thread on that. Was tempted to get a double wall tent but the weight savings on the EV2 were so nice!
